2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Interesting how so many media pundits think the Bruins would be better off playing game seven in St. Louis vs. at home.

What do you mean afraid of suspension Craig?

Physicality doesn’t necessarily lead to one, does it?

When it not just Physical but dirty / against the Rules it's PB time.....

The Blues" " come from the back of the pack" story was a great one. BUT I have to say that after the 6 games we've seen so far, they are a THOROUGHLY despicable bunch headed by a thoroughly despicable HC. The Panthers were just as physical as the Blues if not more so, but I NEVER thought they were cheap shot artists or played to hurt the opposing player.

But what really disturbs me isn't Berube's attempt to take the game back to the last century and trying to manipulate the officiating, but the fact that the officials (read NHL) are literally buying EVERYTHING the guy is selling.

Not only are they allowing most of the cheap shots the Blues are dishing out, they inexplicably calling the B's for things they are letting the Blues get away with all the time. When you look at the box score the penalties were 4-4, but 2 of the Blues penalties came during their usual thuggery attacks at the end of the game.

What the guy did at the end of the game (TWO cross checks and a punch to the face) is a great example. Do you think he gave a sh!t about the 2 minutes he got with 18 seconds left in a 5-1 game. All it proved to him is that he could get away with that behavior with NO consequence. What if the Bruins play had been hurt?

What message is the league sending? I watched that and thought that this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that they should suspend the guy for. in my opinion it was certainly worse than what happened in the play that got the last Blue suspension. Otherwise you are just saying that when a game is out of reach you are free to maim anyone you want and all you'll get is a meaningless penalty. Not just a revival of the Goon, but giving him a license to hurt people.

Bortuzzo didn’t care at all...he even winked at his bench coming off the ice

If the Blues played this way in the mid 80's, 90's and even the early 00s against the Bruins they would have had Jay Miller, Lyndon Byers, Chris Nilan, Jeff Odgers, Ken Baumgartner Ken Belanger and PJ Stock (just to name a few) immediately drop gloves and set tone.

Game has changed and I am not so sure its for the better.

It's much better without the gratuitous "ice boxing." It just needs to be officiated fairly and consistently. Fighting should never be a sanctioned element of any sport.

I agree the 'gratuitous' fights have no place in today's game but I do not hold that all fights are gratuitous. In a randomly officiated sport with no out of bounds where highly conditioned athletes in the equivalent of body armor consistently move at 20-30 mph while carrying 6 foot weapons and routinely run each other into unyielding boards I think it's rather the opposite

The Bankofamericasox either have an exaggerated sense of self-importance

Red Sox TV ratings are typically 2-3x that of the Bruins on NESN.

Regardless, your trolling of a fellow Boston sports team (with your incredibly unfunny nickname) on a Patriots forum is just an annoyance to the majority of people here.

Bruins better score first. Or thuggery will win.

The Bankofamericasox either have an exaggerated sense of self-importance or simply are acknowledging the fact that their audience would evaporate going head-to-head with a Bruins championship game seven.

Keep in mind that only the Pats have more championships this century.

Orr had physical gifts that Brady can only dream of. Brady's strengths are all intangibles. he has a will of iron like no other. He is prepared like no other. And he's supremely clutch. Orr changed how defense men played the game. he literally could skate circles around an entire team. And put the puck anywhere he wanted to. they are both in their leagues mount Rushmore.
Brady's influence and mystique over the area is on the same level though. His legacy will be equivalent if not greater than Orr's over time.

I think we are all mindful of how many championships we've been fortunate enough to see the ol' hometown team win. That said, it is not unreasonable to find Dr Creepy's penchant for turning everything into a revenue stream while presenting himself as some kind of steward of the game as being over the top unseemly, not unlike how his newspaper deals with our football team. I get that we have to take the bad with the good and the Sox ownership has by and large been committed to winning, it's the hypocrisy that many of us have trouble with
