The Blues" " come from the back of the pack" story was a great one. BUT I have to say that after the 6 games we've seen so far, they are a THOROUGHLY despicable bunch headed by a thoroughly despicable HC. The Panthers were just as physical as the Blues if not more so, but I NEVER thought they were cheap shot artists or played to hurt the opposing player.
But what really disturbs me isn't Berube's attempt to take the game back to the last century and trying to manipulate the officiating, but the fact that the officials (read NHL) are literally buying EVERYTHING the guy is selling.
Not only are they allowing most of the cheap shots the Blues are dishing out, they inexplicably calling the B's for things they are letting the Blues get away with all the time. When you look at the box score the penalties were 4-4, but 2 of the Blues penalties came during their usual thuggery attacks at the end of the game.
What the guy did at the end of the game (TWO cross checks and a punch to the face) is a great example. Do you think he gave a sh!t about the 2 minutes he got with 18 seconds left in a 5-1 game. All it proved to him is that he could get away with that behavior with NO consequence. What if the Bruins play had been hurt?
What message is the league sending? I watched that and thought that this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that they should suspend the guy for. in my opinion it was certainly worse than what happened in the play that got the last Blue suspension. Otherwise you are just saying that when a game is out of reach you are free to maim anyone you want and all you'll get is a meaningless penalty. Not just a revival of the Goon, but giving him a license to hurt people.
