IF Collins doesn’t free lance, then it’s a good signing if he can go back to his 14/15 season with us then it’s good if not then just cut him. Imagine it will be a one year deal with heavily based incentives. Don’t hate it or love it, just seems a good depth signing with upside

I'm sitting here LOLing about BB. Forget the Patriots' long standing philosophies of getting rid of guys one year "too early" and finding under-used diamonds in the rough on other teams! I predicted Collins would be the {Pats 2nd round draft pick. I looked forward to his career as a Patriot. I was disappointed. He free lanced more and more as time went on and gave up big gains that should have been easy stops over and over. He was distant with the fanbase and made it obvious he didn't want to be here or listen to the coaches. I hope this is just a look-see. If he has the same attitude , **** him.

Of play that he put forth. But yeah, his antics of freelancing and being a liability against the run were evident and wasn’t sad in the least to see him go.

Hopefully the 2nd go round fares better and he is a little bit more mature this time. Good thing about this team is you still got to go out to ota’s, tc and prove yourself. If he can’t, he’ll be gone. Would love to see him succeed and be back here though. Even if only in a a special role that he does well.

Mayo is a new coach. Doubt Bill called him up. Besides, Bill has worked with Collins in the past and knows what he’s all about.

Are you kidding? BB wouldn't consult with Mayo even though he's to be his coach and was his former teammate? At the very least, not consulting with Mayo would be insulting to him.

Equally speculative but far more likely is that Mayo made the case to BB that he could coach Collins to success here.

Has to prove that he can play within the defensive call but for low dollars, it’s a good signing. Back-up LB that can cover decently enough if asked and he gives BB more flexibility from a personnel standpoint.
