NFL Draft: Day 2

Dalton for Dante

luckily Pats can still get some top value out of this draft with moving up for Risner

- one of the safest picks of the draft
- close to elite talent/experience (very good at run blocking and pass protection)
- fills the void at swing tackle + backs up all 5 positions in year one at the least
(potentially saves a spot on 46 roster for additional STer ;) )
- probably dependant starter week 1 at all 5 positions if need be
- adds flexibility at OL management going forward and keeps the OL cap healthy
(unfortunately only 4 years now since they didn't take him at 32)
-.-

I honestly thought that Risner was going to be the pick for the Patriots. Yes, I was surprised, by Harry, but not disappointed.

So nice to see some fire on the usually PC and bland NFL Network set

Why would they need to trade up for Winovich???
Because I really like his intensity, motor, and nose for the football. I am sold on the fact that he will be a pro(high floor). If a team from about 45-53 is looking to trade back with a team that has a plethora of picks, then I would pull the trigger on this guy. I want this type of player in my locker room and wouldn't get overly consumed in the minutia of value at this particular point. I'd swap 2nd rounders and give up the 101st for somewhere in 4th/5th

What did Rosen do other than unfollow the Cardinals on Social Media?? Did Rosen actually say anything in response to Murray being drafted? Did he crap in his locker and tell the team to F*** OFF?? Did he run his truck into the lobby of the teams HQ?

Or is Smith going off and making it more than it actually is?

I'm fine with a trading up for the highest player on Belichick's board using our 73 (or 64 if necessary) and one of the comp thirds, getting a 5th back.

It’s a somewhat pathetic snowflakey move to unfollow someone on social media because they upset you. And I think it’s demonstrative of where his head is. I actually started the video thinking I wasn’t going to agree with Steve Smith, but a) nice to see some passion from a network that is usually so bland, and b) his argument won me round. I think he’s spot on.

I understand liking a guy, but do you honestly think he's a 2nd round grade? Now, taking them with a grain of salt, DraftBible/NFLDraftScout.com had him as a 5th round pick, but their mock had him taken in the 3rd round.

Ok . so the mock on composite board of fanspeak says there will be run on 4 positions before Pats next pick WR, OL, DB, EDGE ( and no TE off board)

Lets say you know these players are going before 56:

OL: Taylor, Ford, Cajuste, Risner, Dieter

EDGE: Winovich, Ferguson, Polite

CB: Greedy, Murphy, Mullen, Ya-Sin, Layne, Love

S: Adderley, Rapp

Do you move up and for whom?

(i already stated my Risner rationale..)

Trading up to 29 wouldn't have done anything since the Chargers took Tillery at 28.
for some reason I thought the Chargers got him a 30. See how closely I followed the first day. ;)

Unfollowing the Cards on Twitter is something LeBron James does.

I think it only demonstrates that he's checked out on them the way they've checked out on him.

Honestly, I felt that Smith was making more of it than it really is and is putting all the blame on Rosen without looking at it from his point of view.

Wish there was a billion-star-rating choice. Smith is right. Glad he’s going to Miami. He can “cry in the corner” when NE beats him up.

I’d suggest you missed Greg Little for OT. I’d be tempted by A move up for Little or Risner but I’d rather be giving up one of my comp picks rather than 73. Alternatively you could give up 73 and get a get a later pick back. Irv Smith is one I think they could trade up for, as is Joejuan. I think you let the draft ride as long as those four and Zach Allen are on the board and once they start getting taken, then go for the trade up. Deebo is another you could add to the list although two WRs with the first two picks doesn’t seem likely.

To sum up:

Deebo
Risner
Little
Z Allen
Joejuan

Are on my watch list for a trade up. Winovich and Thornhill are possibilities too.

It was on instagram, but why follow a team that is intent on shipping you out?
True. Why be some social media loser in the first place ? Get in your playbook, Josh.

Honestly, I felt that Smith was making more of it than it really is and is putting all the blame on Rosen without looking at it from his point of view.

His point is fair though. If we’d drafted a LT in the first round, would you want Isaiah Wynn to “check out”?

Why "unfollow" after your team drafts competition at your position? Why not stand and compete and not pull this passive agressive -I'm-mad-at-you sissy crap?

I'm from a different generation. Thats behavior of an entitled loser

I got to talk to Buchsbaum at the 1982 draft (the only one I ever went to), and he truly was a mensch. Just a really nice guy, and I loved his draft guides at Pro Football Weekly. He truly was a great talent evaluator, was offered several jobs in the NFL and never took one. Interesting fact, he never went to see the prospects, did all of his scouting in his apartment via video tape.

Definitely was a notch up on Mel Kiper back in the 1980s.
Wasn't it Buschbaum the guy who wrote the article in the spring of 2001 that the Patriots were the LEAST likely team to GET to a Superbowl in the next 5 years? BTW- IIRC, it was a good analysis that few Pats fans disagreed with. ;)

Different situation since Wynn could easily be a swing tackle for the Pats or a back-up along the interior. Not to mention that I believe that the Patriots would have been up front with Wynn and told him that the LT position is up for grabs. Much like last year.

The Cardinals have been openly shopping Rosen. Not to mention that there was a Tweet by the Cardinals that has since been taken down that seemed to throw shade as well.
