2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Great win for the Hurricanes. Great win, indirectly, for the Bruins.

Carolina carried the play for the last several minutes of OT. Well deserved win.

Regards,
Chris

Oh absolutely. Carolina was better. Not sure what I saw from Washington tonight.

All division winners lost in the first round, wonder if that's ever happened.

im tired just from watching that game. there is no reason the bruins cant get to the finals.

Crappy board play and a team relying too much on the lobbed puck

Columbus would be the reason, but Colorado or San Jose is taking the Cup anyway.

San Jose, lol that’s a cute story.

if right before the playoffs started i asked you to pick who you wanted for each series (not expected, but wanted)

it would look a lot like how it is right now...

Congrats to the Hartford Hurricanes, or is it the Carolina Whalers?

I actually think SJ will represent the West in the cup. They are a legitimate threat and could end up building on that momentum.

Considering placing future bets on both Boston and SJ, but I hate to waste money on two teams, and it’s not like we’re talking big cash, either way.

Momentum is real, and the quicksand theory is real. We've all seen it often enough to know that.

I agree. Human emotions (even professional sports players! ) will be swung by momentary changes in conditions/events. A rallying event can add or revitalize determination -- at least IMHO -- and this is momentum (for lack of a better description).

However, momentum change equals 4 goals in 5 minutes? Not IMHO. I believe typical playoff hockey equals about 1 goal scored every 4 to 5 times you have a one man advantage (minor penalties - I don't have a guess for majors). But extrapolating that out I'd bet the percentages will not even equal 1 goal per major. 4 Goals for one major is an epic collapse despite the catalyst of the rallying event/momentum swing of the penalty itself + scoring the first goal.

Just a little friendly smack talk from this blues fan who hasnt even experienced making a cup final much less winning one.

I take it you're under 50.. When the NHL expanded in 67 (?), the Blues represented the West in the finals for three or four years.. Orr's famous flying thru the air photo scoring the Cup winning goal in 1970 was versus St. Louis.....

As a Bruins fan of a particular age my all time favorite Cup Final moment involved the Blues.

Haha, you posted that while I was searching the image in my post

I don’t want any excuses from the Bruins, no Lighting, Caps, or Penguins. Get it done.
Agree.

I wouldn't sleep too much on the NYI. That team is downright stingy. The neutral zone trap is alive and well.

Way too much influence from Jacques Lemaire as a special advisor for my liking.

And former Devils GM Lou Lamerillo

Yup. Under 50 so all i know is the sting of consistently making the playoffs followed by a usual loss to those 90s redwings or more recently the Kings/blackhawks squads. The sting of acquiring Gretzky to pair with hull followed by an early exit. The sting of winning the presidents cup followed by an early playoff loss.
