With a year to go in the decade (I count them 0-9) it appears that the 10's will be better than the 0's.

0's - 112- 48, 14-4, 7 Division titles,, 4 Conference Championships and 3 Super Bowls.
10's - 113-39, 16-6, 9 Division titles, 5 Conference Championships and 3 Super Bowls.

For some reason it felt to me that the 0's were the more dominant team and consisted of a greater collection of talent. Maybe it is because it is in the past and nostalgia has already kicked in but the records seems to indicate the 10's.

Other notable team decades:
70 Steelers 99-44-1 (.690) 7 Division, 4 Conference Championships, 4 Super Bowls
80's 49ers 104-47-1 (.690) 7 Division, 4 Conference Championships, 4 Super Bowls

The 10’s teams never missed the playoffs, the 0’s teams missed the playoffs in 2000, 2002 and 2008.

The 10’s have made 8 consecutive AFCCG’s and counting, the 0’s longest AFCCG streak was 2.

The 10’s have made 5 SB’s, the 0’s made 4.

It can be argued that the 0’s had the higher peak, with 2003/04 and 2007 but overall the 10’s 8 straight AFCCG’s are unsurpassable.

If the 2007 Patriots had sealed the deal, then I don't think there would be any argument, but so far the 10s have been a more consistent team, as Kargetina pointed out above. One more year to add to the legacy, too! Who knows how far they go in the playoffs in '19?

16-0 goes a hell of a long way towards countering everything other than SB wins.

Coach was still getting his team in place, so 2000 weakens the 00’s. IMHO, 03-04 were the most dominant teams I have ever seen in the nfl.

2007 Patriots and 1985 Bears were far more dominant than either of those years.

Pats sustained dominance for 2 years, bears and 07 pats were one year wonders...imho...

Pats lost their QB for 2008. Bears went 14-2 in 1986. And you've moved the goalposts from single seasons. If you're going to do that, it's the Steelers in the late 70's, by a mile (I'm not old enough to include all the pre-SB era teams).

Hell, one could argue for

1998 Vikings
1984 49ers

as well, although the Vikings lost the conference finals when their kicker chose the wrong time for his only miss of the entire season.

Gronk is player who puts the 10's over the top.

The 00's had Moss for a short time and were almost literally unbeatable. Then they lost Brady.

But Gronk is a major reason for the consistency of this run.

The 2007 Patriots were clearly the most dominant regular season team of the Super Bowl era. They were double digit favorites in 11 games and were 20 point favorites 3 times. Their point differential for the season was over 300 and that was with a challenging schedule where they played and beat 4 division winners and 6 playoff teams. I would have the 1985 Bears at #2. Unfortunately the Super Bowl and a play or two completely changed the historical narrative.

If the 2004 Pats played the 2007 Pats, my money would be on the 2004 team.

I know this is a typo, but what was the record here?

Probably 113.

================

IMO, the '07 Patriots were the most dominant team I ever saw in my life (I'd consider myself a serious NFL fan from 1993-present....and watched casually as a kid from 1980-1993).

I remember going to a bar in California for the Redskins game when they had Sean Taylor. The Redskin fans came outta the woodwork....the bar was like 10-1 Redskins to Patriot fans.... and there was a dude I watched games there with for years who had this awesome Pat Patriot Chuck Taylor sneakers that I have never been able to find anywhere online....so he is seated across the bar from me. The middle of the bar is mobbed with Skins fans....they were talking so much trash pre-game....very electric atmosphere....

The Pats just KILLED the Skins that day...they just moved the ball with sheer will....like knife cutting warm butter....I wasn't even rooting that hard. I was even in shock....and kept exchanging glances with this Pat fan across the bar but it was the kind of a glance like, "Oh my god....this is OUR football team....."

The Skins fans were all shell shocked.....and dead quiet by the 2nd quarter when it was 24-0.

I think that game was the apex of that season....when we hit 8-0.....we struggled to hit 16-0....we started to lose some of it late in the year.

That season still kills me to this day....

If the 2004 team played any Patiots team, the 2004 team would win.

Dunno....I think the 2016 team could have played with ANYBODY. Tom Brady was at his best, IMO.

How would 2004 have covered that 2007 receiver group? People forget that what probably did the Patriots in was not the Giants, but the injuries to the TE group, Neal, and Brady.

When did all the injuries hit...reason I ask, I feel like teams had started to figure the patriots offense out that year, and even the conference championship game against the Chargers was a bit of a slog. But I don’t really remember when guys were going down.

Brady got hurt in the AFCCG.
Neal got hurt in the SB
The TEs got dinged up along the way.

That 2004 team didn't have the secondary coverage ability to stop that 2007 arsenal, IMO. Neither did the Giants, before those Patriots injuries. And, I think people make too much of the whole "figure the Patriots out" thing:

Nov 18: 56 v. Buffalo
Nov 25: 31 v. Philly
Dec 3: 27 v. Baltimore
Dec 9: 34 v. Pitt
Dec 16: 20 v. Jets
Dec 23: 28 v. Miami
Dec 29: 38 v. Giants
Jan 12: 31 v. Jags
Jan 20: 21 v. Chargers
Feb 3: 14 v. Giants

Points weren't a problem until Brady got hurt v. the Chargers. And, even in that Chargers game, the Patriots got the ball with 9:13 left in the 4th quarter and were able to grind out the clock and keep the ball for the rest of the game.

If the 2004 Pats played the 2007 Pats, my money would be on the 2004 team.

Using which year's ruleset ?

If the 2003/2004 team could play the way they did back in the days then they might smash up the spread offense of 2007 enough to have a shot.

The further in the future you get with the rules the less chances will the 2003/4 teams have. They would lose 8 out of 10 (if not more) against the 2014-2018 era teams as theyd exploit the way the old teams were built given the rules (and how the rest of the NFL played) back then.
