The draft

He called him Billy

Not only that, other teams interested in him may move ahead of NE to get him. It puts Bill in a bad spot if he in fact wants him.

Personally, I see no reason to keep on talking about 12 picks.

The last 5 are simply early UDFA picks. As always, belichick will find 1-3 among them and UDFA's.

The question is whether there is room for 7 rookie upgrades, and there is.

I've been targeting 21 for a while now. It seems to make the most sense. We don't need 12 players, but they need a lot of depth.

BB will hate the way he openly spoke.
Considering "Billy"'s track record when drafting WRs, he should start picking guys who do the exact opposite of what he looks for.

And pushes someone else further down

People already knew about the visit though. I already had it in the contacts list in the draft forum. Now it's possible that people knew about it because of his instagram post, that's how we know about Mecole Hardman's visit. He should have stuck to Instaface.

Yes, but a lot of visits are smokescreens. If the player basically comes out and says the team was enthusiastic about him (or that “if you’re at 32, we’ll take you,” which is what Deebo basically said), it removes any mystery.

Wait. Is your argument that Deebo's post eliminates the possibility of his visit being a smokescreen? Really?

Come on, man. You've been posting here for more than a decade. You know better than that.

Yes and no on the last 5 picks. Chances are probably not too far apart. Worth of the picks to the Patriots and other teams over UDFA is significant. You don't need to compete with other teams for a player you like, you can choose them. The Patriots certainly have seen returns from picks in the last two rounds. Other teams also value draft picks for team building. So they have value to the Patriots if held, I would definitely throw at least one on a wr, and value to trade as pieces for draft picks or players.

Fully expect 12 plus rookies on the 90 man roster. 7 sounds like a good guess for the opening day 53.

BB will hate the way he openly spoke.

Marcellus Bennett said the Pats don’t try to suppress players’ personalities. It’s giving bulletin board material that BB hates.

AJ Brown also seems to quite openly talk to Brady on Twitter now. I don’t have a problem with either.

Good call. Seattle has been looking to gain picks. General manager John Schneider has only 4 picks and has vowed to Trade down "if he can find a partner" for more Draft inventory. I think they approach the Pats. The have "0" 6th or 7th rounders.
We need to come up with a fifth rounder for a "no brainer" WR addition who will be in MY prediction, opening day starter.
This leads up to my preliminary annual DW Toys Trade-A Rama:

Seattle trades:
1stRound #21=800 pts
5th Round #159=27.4 pts

Patriots trades:
1st Round #32=590 pts
3rd Round #73=225 pts
7th Round #246=1 pt

You might consider TE Fant at #21 or the surprise pick and actual Round one WR A.J. Brown.I think ASJ does not eliminate the TE need but allows up more flexibility.

O.K. Follow the bouncing BB trader here.
Arizona trades:
2nd Round #33=580 pts
3rd Round #65=265 pts
QB Josh Rosen

Patriots trades:
1st Round #21=800 pts
2nd Round # 64=270 pts

AZ wants to recoup their Rosen pick to make Murray deal look better to the fan base. They want a #1 pick. Best offered supposedly is 2nd-3rd.
The Pats now own Rosen for cheaper than Hoyer with the potential to be as good as the top three QB's in this class, would own him for three more years cheap, learn under TB, groom him and own him for 225 trade chart points which equates to exactly where this years third round pick #73 was in value. So QB Josh Rosen for a third rounder in essence. What QB can we get in the 3rd round this year with more pending talent?

So the new score board is:
The first pick of the 2nd round #33 (only one back of #32)Oh yeah and we get QB Josh Rosen

2nd Round>
#33 Traded to Redskins for pick #46 in 2nd and pick #76 in 3rd. Skins need a QB and they have 9 picks
#46 Jeffrey Simmons DT Miss. St.(IR candidate of top ten player)
#56 Jonathan Abram S Miss. St. (last year for DMC. RodneyII?))

3rd Round>
#65 Andy Isabella WR U Mass.(WR speed+speed, Special Teams maven)
#76 Jace Sternberger TE Tex. A&M (Can Scar teach him to block some?)
#97 Jaylon Ferguson EDGE Lousiana Tech (45 career sacks)
#101 Michael Deiter OT Wisconsin (swing tackle needed. Three year starter. Cannon is 31 in a few weeks)

4th Round>
#134 Traded to the Bucs for Gerald MCoy DT Why trade if he could become a FA? WHERE DO WE WIND UP ON HIS DANCE CARD AS A FA? We have control over him for three more years with the following two diminishing salary years for actually reasonable dollars (the same $ as Fletcher Cox, less than Suh, less than Flowers)

He's only 31, 2 years younger than Bennett and is a 6 time Pro-Bowler who wants a ring. This is his quote (4-3, 3-4, 5-2, Nose guard, 3-tech, DE, doesn’t matter. Either you can play football or you can’t. PERIOD!!) 6 sacks with inside pressure in 2018. The Bucs are CAP strapped. A fourth rounder might do it.

Bennett, Pennel, Guy and McCoy as our front four is pretty sporty. Might be the best in a decade.

Work in Wise and Rivers and draft another edge rusher. Butler had 3 sacks inside.

5th Round>
#159 Traded to Browns for RFA WR Rishard Higgins from Cleveland as a 5th Round , $2.025 mm RFA Tender. He would be our best WR after Edleman and start. He's only 24 years old and with OBJ and Landry and last year Draft sensation Callaway, I think the Browns do not fight this.

6th Round>
#205 Dru Tranquil OLB Notre Dame (typical Patriot genes. ST guy)

7th Round>
#239 Sione Takitaki OLB BYU (Wild man. ST if anything)
#252 Jalen Hurd WR Baylor (can line up at RB as well ala Patterson. Can do more than one thing)

Thoughts?
