TE Jared Cook ?

Don't imagine he leaves NO without a deal...

We'll see tomorrow. New Orleans has even less cap space than the Patriots. I'm not sure they can offer him a very lucrative deal. He'd be wise to give the Patriots an opportunity to make a bid.

A good guy. 31 years young.

Those who are assuming that the Saints are definitely going to sign him need to look at the Saints cap situation first. It is not a sure thing.

Saints restructure Brees' contract to open cap space

By kicking the Brees can down the road, they increased their cap space to around 15 million but that was BEFORE Bridgewater and Brown agreed to their contracts. They are hosting both Cook and Ansah and I doubt that they have the space to sign both and then have enough space to sign their draft class. They may have to choose between Cook and Ansah.

Keep the faith. I think that Cook would kill it in the Pats offense.

Pats should do it if Gronk doesn't resign. Maybe even if he does though it would be tricky.

They have the cap space just barley if Brady cuts 5 million off like I think he will.

I’m assuming that you mean “if he doesn’t retire.” He’s already signed. It’s probably not too likely that either side is considering an extension at this moment in time.

Raiders Wire suggests that the difficulty in getting this aging vet signed has to do with his desire to become one of the highest paid TE's in the game.. not much to see here folks, move along.

Why haven't the Raiders re-signed TE Jared Cook?

Cook is asking to be one of the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL.

Another reason for his current availability could be his lack of effectiveness in the run game

Won’t block and overpriced? Sign me up!

When he’s on, he looks good, but he has mental lapses, drops balls, etc. If he doesn’t block very well as suggested, then he’s overrated.

I think our TE is coming in the draft.

Don't see the need as long as Gronk intends to come back. LaCosse will be TE 3 and impact rookie will get drafted

Apparently the entire 2016 Packers offense is a FA right now...

I would tend to agree. Cook plays wide most of the time. Tremendous speed. Productive.

Yeah, that sucks. I was hoping to see him in a Pats uni come training camp, but oh well. What's the deal with Seferian-Jenkins? He's still out there, and I haven't heard a peep regarding any teams being interested.

I had no interest in him.

Seems clear the Patriots got the free agent TE they wanted in LaCosse plus whatever rookie they draft.

My buddy is a huge Giants fan (and Pats hater) and thinks that Lacosse has talent and untapped potential but couldn’t stay healthy during time with the G men. I suspect that the talent and depth of this tight end as draft class caused them to lose their appetite for shelling out a multi million dollar contract to a free agent. The value is in the draft this year, not free agency. Plus, they must feel confident that Gronk coming back.

Gronk
Lacosse

Day 1 or 2 draft pick

I like Cook’s athleticism and would have liked the Pats to sign him at the right price but that crew works for me.

Another toy for Brees to flex his regular season super muscles with before gagging when it matters.
