Jordy Nelson is free....

Where was I wrong? Edelman is a stud. At least I can be objective, try it.

Opinionated is not a synonym of objective, sorry.

Yeah, you can be opinionated.

Nelson had over 700 yards last year in the NFL, which is more than anyone on New England not named Julian Edelman or James White.

Pats weren't interested in him last year, so not sure why they would be interested this year, unless they are getting desperate...

When Phillip Dorsett is currently your number 2 receiver, I'd say bringing in Nelson would be a good move.

Can't rely on Gordon and drafting a receiver who will contribute hasn't been a reality, so at this point I'd say let's give Nelson a shot.

Jordy Nelson is on the wrong side of 30.

Name one WR, other than Randy Moss, who had success with the Patriots in the Brady era joining at 30+.

And no Ochocino doesn't count, and sadly I think he might be the 2nd most successful

Last year he signed 2 years 14 million.... 10 guaranteed.

This year they might get him on a veteran last rodeo to a championship contract.

Agree. Watch the film. He can still get open.

Agreed with you and Gator Mike.

If he can beat out what we have, awesome. And if he can't, he wouldn't be the first "used to be pretty damn good" vet BB has jettisoned during camp/PS.

Seems like a BB move all the way to me.

And, from the comfort of my couch.....Derek Carr misses some damn throws.

Isn't this guy cooked? He's a shell of his former self after that injury and leaving the Packers.. thought i remember reading articles about how he's lost his explosiveness and is basically a JAG at this point

Maybe for a close to Vet minimum, 1 year deal to kick the tires... but id rather get younger guys at WR to develop

Nelson was basically two players last year. Through week 11, he had 25 catches for a bit over 300 yards. Weeks 12 to 17, 38 catches for around 400 yards. Didn't have a game with fewer than 6 catches, catch rate in the 80s. If you're getting the guy at the end of the year, you're getting a true WR2. Jordy's never going to be a top-5 WR ever again but at this point beggars can't be choosers.

A washed up jordy Nelson >>>>> Bruce Ellington

They likely took Ellington to compete for the role of kick returner. I’m good with a Jordy Nelson signing, though. What the hell.

Because?

He'd an upgrade on Hogan which is exactly what people wanted for a while now. He finished last year on an upward trajectory which doesn't fit the "he is toast" narrative.

To be clear, Nelson had 8 more catches and 100 more yards than Edelman over the course of the last 5 games of last season (which coincides with Cooper's departure). Had he carried that pace over a full season, he would've been well over 100 catches and 1000 yards. Whatever he is, he isn't cooked.

Well, he lives too close to Ohio, but we could have him work out with the team and see what we got.

How much worse than flowers can he be?
