Patriots Trade for Michael Bennett

If anybody can keep this knucklehead under control, it's the Pats. He still has a ton of talent at a position of need. I don't think this is indicative of their plans for Flowers but rather probably signals the end for Clayborn.

Now come back, Marty, and let's set the record for most set of twins on a Super Bowl winning team!

Wise and Bennett as Starting DEs is pretty good. Would need a third if Flowers or Clayborn go and obviously keeping Flowers would be an awesome trio moving Wise to depth.

Bye bye Flowers. But I totally support this move.
I like the move as well but don't think it's any implication of their desire to bring back Flowers. Sure, it's some leverage, but I think this moreso signals the end of Clayborn. Flowers is a guy who plays majority of snaps (70-90%). Bennett is going to be more of a sub-rusher like Claybourn (35-50%).

He's still got a great motor, though. I love the move.

Hate the person all you want but the guy can get pressure on the QB.

If Flowers is let go, I figure the percentage chance of the Patriots drafting DT in rounds 1-2 will be so close to 100 as to be a statistical certainty.

And that's not to say I don't think Bennett could replace Flower's production. It's just that I'd prefer not to take on the risk of a much older player with some baggage, but more importantly, imagine how sweet Flowers AND Bennett would be.

I do not think trading for Bennett is an indication of Flowers' departure.BB is not so stupid to show Flowers he is redundant in team because of Bennett's presence in the team. Unless Flowers and his agent clearly suggested they were going to look for money The Pats would not pay. To me Bennett looks like Clayborn's replacement.

Now who amongst us would like to kick off the political discussion in this thread?

I offered to jump into that last night, and the thread died until this morning. I didn't bother to read what was added at that point, because I figured the point was made.
