If Flowers is franchised, that would give both sides 4 months to work out a long-term contract extension.

The contract would start with $17M for 2019 services.

Let us say that Flowers is willing to come down to $14M a year for 3 additional years, that would be $59M/4 or just under $15M a year. There would be serious negotiation with regard to guaranteed monies. I can't see Flowers taking less.

I would guarantee $30M of a 4-year, $60M contract.

Flowers will get 17 on the open market.

He earned his money. He's not coming back. No one can fault him for maximizing his future earnings...he already has 2 rings. It isn't about that.

Based on the situation as it stands today .. Id give the Patriots a fair shot at retaining his services. Flowers seems like a true 'player's player' he stays quiet .. Out of the spotlight. Doesn't feed into media or trash talk but shows out every Sunday. It wouldn't shock me if he would prefer a proven winner ..with a strong locker room over an extra 2 or 3 mil a year.

Downside of that is..with the never-ending Belichick branch extending to so many teams out there.. He could likely find a good locker room/coaching staff with familiar faces outside of NE AND get paid top dollar.

Stated this before...very intrested to see how this plays out.

He could be the locker room stabilizer those Pats descendants are looking for. A priceless investment.

Posters taking your position all the time. Surely no player would sign for someone else for a mere 2 or 3 million a year more.

Sure they would, especially in a player's first big contract.

Besides lots of players might prefer FL to RI.

Never said No player brotha-man...just Flowers specifically. Some (most players) would play elsewhere for even 1 million more a year. I am not naive to this.

This is a look at Flowers and my general opinion of who he is as a person player. Believe it or not there ARE players who might leave some change on the table to stick with the devil they know. I do realize these types of players are few and far between. Also they tend to be veterans in search of a retirment home in warm weathr OR a championship ring.
Once in awhile you get the unicorn who is ok making 13m in a familar place instead of taking 15m to relocate and start in a whole new program/institution. Just tryin to be a bit optimistic bro..given that Flowers doesnt strike me as a "me,me,me,me" player. I could def be wrong...also not naive to that.
