I don't see the Patriots going high enough to keep Flowers out of Miami. Even taking cap considerations out of it, Flores has clearly been surrounding himself with familiar faces on the coaching staff to help with his transition to HC. Flowers would provide not only a great player, but a "player representative" so to speak to help relay his concepts. Flowers could lead by example on a team that might have to learn a new defense.
On the flip side, having a coach that he likes and is familiar with removes some of the motivation that might cause a player like Flowers to take a home town discount (even if that was something he was willing to do, which would surprise me). I'd love to have him back, but I feel the writing is on the wall here. Miami will outbid the Patriots for him, because he is more valuable to them than he is to us. And I don't mean that in a disparaging way to either team, just the way it is IMO.
