Obviously if Belichick's sees value anywhere that can upgrade the team, he will act.

That being said, our base is to play 2 LB's: Van Noy and Hightower, with Bentley as the backup.

We also have Roberts as our #4, especially on run downs.

Finally, we will likely continue to carry 3 LB/STer's. This year, we had King, Humber and McClellan.

That's 7 LB's, enough for me, although another could make the team, perhaps in place of one of the STers: a draftee, Sam, or a low level free agent; all seem possible.

As always, I'm fine with a developmental pick, even as early as the 2nd.

Obviously, we have issues on the EDGE and at DT.

The team continues to need a cover LB, and relying on a low round (going into season two) who was injured 3 games into the season is not generally wise. But BB has gambled on thin and theoretically inadequate LB corps fairly often in recent years.

i agree. They haven't had a Don Davis since Don Davis.

I don't disagree, but you STILL need to find that tweener guy who can be a linebacker and still be fast enough to cover receiving TE's and RB's, with Telvin Smith being the archetype you are looking for.

Right now that is a skill set we don't have on the roster. KGruier-Hill might have been that guy, but Philly grabbed him when we tried to hide him on our PS. I believe it takes a couple of years for a guy like that to reach his potential. It did for Smith and Grugier-Hill. So I'm thinking the draft would be the place to start. Probably with a mid-round pick.

The Telvin Smith archetype skill set is become more and more important in today's game. CLB - coverage LB. Jamie Collins would be been great at it if he had been disciplined and coach able. (BTW- this FA period could see Jamie back on the market - just sayin'. Pat Chung did great on his re-do. ;) )

With all due respect, I've played this game since 2000. I have NO IDEA what the hell BB is going to do, no clue who he'll pick and probably will go batshyt when he DOES draft this April. In other words, it's more fun to project who the OTHER 31 teams are going to take.At least I'll have SOME clue.

Actually Melinfonwu's measurables blow KGH's out of the water in all respects:

KGH (Pro-day) - Height: 6021 / Weight: 208 / 40-time: 4.45 / Bench reps: 15 / Vertical: 38.5 / Broad jump: 10'09'' / 3-cone: 6.89

Melinfonwu (Combine) - Height: 6040 / Weight: 224 / 40-time: 4.40 / Bench reps: 17 / Vertical: 44 / Broad jump: 11'08'' / 3-cone: 4.58

The question of course is, if Melinfonwu can put together his measurables into becoming a solid contributor, but just from a measurables standpoint the Patriots actually do have such a guy on the roster right now (and remember, it took KGH three season to see the field for the Eagles this season).

Smart dude. We have been wrong way too often to play the What -Will- BB- Do game. He will draft someones and trade away something and win a lot.

DK was also injured a lot. I really want to see what the coaches plan to do with him.

I wouldn't pass on Jamie Collins - Hightower or Van Noy type in this Draft. That said Bentley was a pleasant surprise and Christian Sam graded out better Draft wise so we'll see I guess.

Need more depth at LB snd someone wbo can go sideline-to-sideline wouldn’t hurt.

Whose coaches? “Our” coaches?

DK Metcalf is going in the top 10 picks. New England isn’t going to be anywhere close to him.

2010 was the last time I even watched the draft. I remember how so many people here trashed that draft at the time; McCourty, Gronk, Murderer, and Mesko. Not terrible. It just makes it pointless to even try to understand what you're seeing because it could be great, good, bad, nonsensical...who knows?

When it comes to football, wake me up during training camp.

Since BB, I’ve been right once. OL Jackson...and he didn’t pan out. Thankfully, Mason did.

We can't have everything.

We do have 4 LB's that are really good.

HT and KVN are elite IMO + Bentley and Roberts (he improved a LOT) provide nice depth. I would love to add another LB because KVN will be a FA and Bentley sample is really small, but we only have one WR, one DT, and lack elite ED, so LB is only a plus.

I can't say because FA did not even begin but if the draft was today

I would love to add

2 WR
1 TE
2 DT
1 ED
1 S

QB is a need but i don't love any of them, so i would like a late pick like the Brett Rypien

Melifonwu 3-cone: 7.07. DK's fixed above. DK is not a shifty guy - straight line player.
