Hoping they stand pat, picked round 3 since BB does that sometimes.

It’s incredible how they drafted Brady’s successor in 2014 and since then Brady has been to 4 Super Bowls, won 3, the successor was traded away a year and a half ago, and the option with the most votes is “the Patriots won’t draft a QB this year”.

BB is always preparing for a successor (or injury). Makes sense we'd draft a QB for development.

One thing I am sure of, BB and Brady understand his situation and timeline/plans more than we will. As for draft position, it's all based on talent. I imagine if the prospect has a what they consider first round talent, they'll take as high as the 2nd...depending on where things fall out and what BB expects other franchises to do.

My guess is 3rd round.
I agree they are always preparing for a successor, but I think it will be a flyer in a lower round. We have Brady who had a good year and doesn't look to be going anywhere soon, and Hoyer and Etling as back-ups. I don't think we'll spend a 3rd rounder this year on a QB.

Personally, I am all in on Brady and think the team shouldn't draft his replacement until he visibly starts losing a step...

My reason is this...a rookie QB offers an enormous advantage in cap management while on a rookie deal. So, say Brady starts to suck...we draft a kid. The first year...the kid sits...and maybe starts one game like Mahomes did in '17...then Brady retires...and boom...we still have 3-4 more years with a low paid QB to rebuild the team not to mention that if Brady sucks...our draft pick is better.

Purdy Mouth Peter also thought it was a good idea to wander from the river's edge in Northern Georgia

Next Year Jake Fromm all day long.

Wouldn’t hate it if he was going mid rounds. But chances are high he’s going first round.

I don't see what people see in Fromm. His coaches weren't happy at times with him and he was almost replaced last year before regaining the starting job. I don't expect his backup to let Fromm just have it.

As we found out with the 2017 Eagles, it can pay off to have a decent backup QB.

So, for the 11th consecutive year, someone is predicting we are drafting Brady's successor this year. Whoop de doo.

Johnny Football will be ready to return for the 2020 season.

This is what sucks about today’s media.
The topic of the Patriots comes up and king says “hey Brady’s 41, they have a bunch of picks, I bet they try to find their future QB”.
It turns into Peter Kimg thinks we are drafting Brady’s successor.

Every human being who knows anything realizes that
A) Brady is 41
B) His backup will probably retire before he does
C) they have no other QB
Therefore since
D) They have a lot of picks
E) QB is important

Miraculously people think they would like to find a qb who could be in line to step in whenever brady is done.

It’s like someone reporting that John Q Public thinks it will snow this month.

He’s tough to grade because he’s surrounded by a really good supporting cast. But he throws a good ball, solid arm strength, quick release. There’s tools to work with.

Let’s just ride it out with Brady at this point.

If we have to go through an inbetween transiion or having no QB, then so be it.

Besides, if anyone could find a way to compete with an average quarterback... well, let's just say I still wouldn't want to be the one betting against Bill Belichick, even after TB12 hangs it up, and even if the replacement is a lackluster gap filler.

They are obviously looking every year at this point, but they aren’t going to change their approach to it because it’s 2019. If they see a kid they really like and they are available they will go there, if not they won’t. I won’t be surprised if they think the better bet is a young QB already in the NFL but not likely to surpass the starter, so they will come free at some point.

Reasons i am high on him is - He makes good reads, has a quick release, makes calls at the line, is smart with the ball, has taken Georgia to National championships and holds his own against Bama.. which is the closet thing to an NFL team on Defence. Anyone who can do that to me is a prospect that should be held highly.

Yikes, I don’t love the idea of going 9-7 with Brian Hoyer ;)
