Rapoport: Gronk seriously considering retirement after 2018

Given the shape of the Pats roster, I would think Belichick is hoping Gronk retires. They badly need the cap space and Gronk is not worth his salary at this point (even less likely to be worth it next year)

He's had alot of damage to his body and if he can leave healthy, good for him

Currently he’s dominating in the run game as a blocker.

I hope not.

If we can lower the cap hit. Sign me up for this run blocking.

I started a gronk thread saying he's not done. Just throw him the damn ball..

First td he should get some credit for drawing that penalty...

He's going that Ronda Rousey direction. He wants to be a pro wrestler like her.

If he's considering retirement because his body is broken, pro wrestling takes as much physical toll on your body.

I'll take 'headlines that don't surprise me at all' for $200. Watching him play out this year, it makes total sense that he's up in the air about putting his body through another year. He's got his long-term health to think about.

Yeah, when you've had 3 back surgeries pro wrestling probably isn't in the cards for you.

Basically, if you're insane enough to accept that kind of risk, you might as well just keep playing football.

He should retire...but make this year MEMORABLE and LEGENDARY!!!!.....win another SB Gronk!!!.....then ride off into sunset

Rapoport has gotten so many stories wrong this year, he is in danger of being called fake news.

Ran into a friend who is in the know at the game today and he said Gronk was considering it but apparently he has one more year in him!

Imagine Gronk with a week of rest + knowing it's his final game ever in a potential last SB?

I think he has one more great game in him

That's easy....

Once Philly gets crushed today and NE advances you'll have everything you need.

Flash in the pan Philly

Yeah...that plan is not looking too good.

He has two.

Amazing he's not really part of the passing offense at all

Gronk, even in his compromised current form, is still as good as a Jason Witten or Heath Miller in their late years. If he sticks around a year or two, we will provide quality TE play, even if he is no longer a superstar.

I will be happy for him if he hangs it up. Gronk will go down as my 3rd favorite Patriot all time, behind only Brady and Bruschi.
