Got blown out twice this year by marginal teams. In terms of playoffs, go back to the last time they were in the playoffs with a record worse than 12-4. They got positively throttled by Baltimore at home in 2009

I doubt the final score is especially lopsided but it’s certainly possible given this team’s inconsistency and awful run D. This is certainly the least talented and worst overall performing team they’ve had since the last time they got crushed. The worst team before that, 2005, got thoroughly outplayed although the loss was “only” 14 points.

Saying “these games are always close” is misleading when most Brady/Belichick Pats teams have been much better than this one. This team, based on talent and regular season performance, is much more 2005 or 2009 than 2007 or 2016. Doesn’t mean they can’t beat LA, but you should at least consider similar teams in the Belichick era when making statements like “they’re always close”
2 regular season big losses vs 2 HCs who know the Pats inside and out.

A bad playoff loss 10 years ago does not help your cause.

This Patriots team has played so poorly this year against terrible teams, I really don't know what to expect. I mean the Lions kicked their arse, the Titans kicked their arse.

How many times have they looked so terrible twice in a season. On top of that they won games and played pretty badly....so, I would not be surprised if they got blown out.

I'm not feeling confident. That doesn't mean I'm not watching, writing them off, or not a real fan I am and always will be.

But there are lots of things that just feel off to me. The time of it (Sunday at 1 for a playoff game, awful), the 'Rivers never beat Brady' thing, the tragedy the DLman just suffered, JC Jackson's "no one can catch a pass on me" attitude today.

I know we're a great team sometimes. But if they show up flat for this game like they tend to do after playoff bye weeks, we are absolutely screwed. This isn't the Texans or Colts from a few years ago, this Chargers team is damn good.

Again, I hope I'm wrong about it. I'll be watching and cheering and hoping for our team to show up and prove they are still one of the best teams in the league.

"Nervous about the game" NO

I can't play football anymore. I couldn't play when I wanted to. So I am not playing in this game, therefore I can't affect the outcome.

I hope the Pats win but won't be surprised if they lose.

"Nervous about the game" NO

Go Pats

I made the mistake of turning on my radio as I went out for lunch today.

I then tuned in to Colin Cowherd (second mistake).

I then didn't change the channel when he brought on his guest, Rob Parker (3rd mistake).

What I learned from that sage (Rob Parker) is that the Patriots are the 8th best of the 8 remaining playoff teams, that LA is a lock. However, he does not rule out the chance that somehow, some way, the Patriots might win if Tom Brady continues to be the luckiest player on Earth, a guy who just happens to stumble upon success over and over again.

My blood pressure rose more than it ought to. Man, I hate Rob Parker. He assured us in 2013 that Brady was done and he'd never sniff another Super Bowl, and yet he is all over the airwaves. Why? I guess hating the Patriots, irrationally, is good for ratings.

Rob Parker? F@$k that guy. I hope he gets cancer.

It is true how the stadium seemingly appears out of nowhere. I still get the kid on christmas morning feeling when I see the stadium as I get close, borderline goosebumps.

I'll feel "nervous" when it's about an hour before kickoff but that's what I call the "can the game hurry the **** up and start"

Which will be the cue to start drinking!

True. I think the only difference this time is that we’re the ones being “counted out” so to speak. Well, at least to many of the mediots out there. It almost feels as if we’re home underdogs because we supposedly have “less talent” than the Chargers, they’re hot/fresh off a wild card playoff victory, Brady’s a shell of his former self, Gronk is toast & we can’t generate any pressure on the QB. Usually, when it “feels off” we’re on a hot streak, like 13-3/14-2 & the opposing team has “no shot.”Ala the 07’/11’ Giants & 2010 Jets. I think (hope) we come out sharp, focused & physical. It feels like BB has this team in unison.

I'm not nervous at all ...
I think they have nothing to lose at this point.

They really are a blue collar - lunch pail team and they know it.
They have accomplished so much .... this is another possible cherry on top.

.

They won't blow us out, they wanted Lamar Jackson to beat them.

Lamar had like -2 passing yard until 2 minutes left in the 3rdQ and then they let him put on a clinic.

I see us getting down early. 17-10 at half and then winning 31-27.

Btw- Celts very strong 1st half vs Indy.
When I turned it on, they were up around 3 pts, maybe 7 mins left. Turned that into a 15 pt lead against one of the nbas top teams.
Red would approve.
yes they are playing better. still a ways to go.

Yep, in the game and the season.
If they can stay healthy, I think they will continue to gel and build momentum.
Could be a special year.
Of course my dream is the trifecta- Sox played their part.
Long way to go for both C's and Pats.
But Im not so focused on winning championships that I don't enjoy the journey.
I love watching em play, win or lose.
Course, win is better.

I have stopped being nervous about the games these days. They have already won 5 Super Bowls so anything more is just gravy and after last years Super Bowl, it all seems way too random for me to spend my nervous energy on.

Oh, you're well within your rights to feel nervous. The Patriots this year were all over the place. BUT, and this is a big thing for me at least, they tended to play well, very good even, against good teams. They're 4-0 against the playoff teams they played this year. Good news is, the bad teams get nowhere near the playoffs haha. All jokes aside though, I think they'll be ready. If their best isn't good enough, so be it, but I'm pretty sure that we'll play well on Sunday and that we'll come out on top!

What is the weather for the game?

Bad conditions, the Chargers are in big trouble.

And not because Rivers will fold. But because it negates their pass rush.

I don't believe that either, though they might have the 8th-best WR group of the 8 remaining PO teams.
