Flashback: when the Pats danced on the Chargers logo and made Tomlinson cry about it

The point remains. The Patriots did not come out flat. They came out like a ball of fire. They dominated. And were it not for those calls, the attitude they took from the Chargers game was exactly the right one to take.
Ehh no. Still had a chance to win at the end. Even after all those calls. If you wanna make excuses, that's your perogative but I won't partake. There's plenty the Pats could've done better. But we all know what they say about hindsight. Made mistakes, Indy made less. It is what it is.

I like the Chargers now. I just hated that crybaby ladainian tomlinson here depicted forever in his greatest playoff moment. Notice the accurate warning. FYI this is 100% realldt-action-figure-large-bp.jpg

We were different back then. Nowadays, I think we show too much respect for other teams, especially when the other team trash talks us all week leading up to the game.
Agreed. I would like to not see Devin McCourty smiling and helping opposing players up after a tackle. I miss that mean streak we had with the old guard.

You continue to miss the point. You stated the celebrations after the Chargers game lead to poor attitude or preparations leading up to the Colts game. That was plainly wrong.

And you're also wrong about the Colts making less mistakes. Pick 6s are huge mistakes.

The Colts were greatly aided by the refs. Those are absolute facts. Hobbs didn't touch the WR. The Colts DB grabbed Reche. That's a 14 point swing. Not to mention the ridiculous never seen before OPI on Brown. But all that is irrelevant to the fact that your claim the Patriots took the next game lightly because of the celebrating. That was plainly WRONG.

They came out like a ball of fire and dominated.

Allowing 32 pts in a single half is inexcusible. Refs didn't score any of those. Maybe having a little less attitude would've helped the Pats make less mistakes... The referees didn't turn the ball over to the Colts toward the end when the Pats still had a chance. No calls held the game out of reach for the Pats. The Patriots made too many mistakes, particularly on defense. They had their heads too far up their ***es and got overconfident at halftime.

You're right, they came it very fired up; way too fired up. Lost focus, lost the game. Period.

I've written this before: Reche Caldwell was a 4th quarter beast in this game. Instead he's remembered for his drops and his bug eyes the following week.

The 4th quarter of this game was "SB51 lite": Just a continuous sequence of plays (and play calls) that worked out in NE's favor. LDT was killing the Pats every time he ran left, but the Pats were doing just enough to keep the Chargers from going full Martyball and riding him to victory. That gave the Pats the opening they needed to take the game, aided by the ridiculous McCree fumble. The Pats still had to make a boatload of other plays that quarter, highlighted by the Faulk direct snap 2pt conversion to tie and the bomb to Caldwell on 3rd-and-10 that flipped the field and set up Gostkowski's winner.

Regards,
Chris

Poor Lady T was crying about Pats players mocking Merriman's Sack dance. The dance he used over opposing QB's after crushing them into the field. Oh the humanity.
After they took away his roids, he had 6 more sacks in 5 seasons.

But Hobbs was “face guarding,” remember? That’s what the ref said. Clearly he deserved to be penalized for that.

Even though that wasn’t and isn’t to this day a penalty in the NFL.
I still can't believe that call. What's even worse was Phil Simms called it before the ref announced. Quite weird.

Those calls calls were game changers. Manning was staring at another choke job until the refs gave him life.

They gave up their lead because Indy exploited the Pats depleted LB corps. Eric Alexander was thrown in the game and failed miserably to help at least slow down the bleeding. The Colts 3rd string TE was looking like an All-Pro during the 2nd half and there wasn't a damn thing the Pats could do about it.

And the Pats were not at all over confident. Did you think they didn't remember getting dominated at home earlier in the year? How about when the Colts beat down the Pats in Foxborough a year prior?

See, I can agree more with this rather than more excuses like the refs won the game for Indy. They had to think on their feet, so to speak, to make an adjustment on what was going on since halftime. But they just didn't have the answers, pure and simple. And well, defensive performance is one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to the game. I suppose you could call it the tale of two halves, but obviously speaking Indy's 2nd half was far stronger than the Pats' 1st half. With the way the defense was playing, the refs had very little to do with the way it played out.

All I was saying is that they went in with too much attitude and lost focus. Mr Stater and I agree they had a lot of attitude going into that game, but I am saying it was too much and they lost focus as a result. Hense the bad defensive performance coming out of the locker room up 15

Thoughts:

A.) That was the greatest Charger team in the last 30 years....maybe all time.

B.) We had no business winning that football game..especially after going down 14-0 in the first quarter.

C.) We wouldn't be in Indy if not for Brown's strip of a Brady interception and Manning would only have one ring, IMO.

D.) In the Indy game, we were still a 3rd and 4 conversion away from winning that ballgame......

I'll never stop finding it hilarious that Tomlinson:

a) got butthurt over the Pats imitating Merriman's sack dance because that's classless
b) ignored how Merriman was obviously a roided up mutant even at the time. Also skipped right past explaining how it was okay for said mutant to have a sack dance in the first place, but that imitating it was what made the whole thing classless.
c) explained that he was qualified to judge this by affirming that he is a very classy guy

Like, it was just a perfect storm of hypocritical, ego-driven idiocy that somehow went beyond a lack of self-awareness and plunged into negative self-awareness territory. It was absurd and tone-deaf and surreal in a way that you just don't see very often, but everyone was so sick of the Pats by then that Tomlinson just got an inexplicable free pass for life. So fitting that he ended his career as a Jet. Even when he played for the Chargers he was basically a Jet without the uniform yet.

Hindsight has made this whole thing better because everyone basically got what they deserved at the end of the day. The Pats won a couple more titles, Tomlinson got exiled off to Jets land to finish his career without ever winning anything, Merriman blew out his knee and never mattered again, and the only Charger from that team who was worth a damn happens to be the one guy still there and playing winning football.

Yeah, I’ll never get that faceguarding call. Drilled him in the back way before he could make any contact. Was that 3rd or 4th down?

Caldwell with one of the worst drops in Pats history.

I hate that game.

Caldwell drop: I blame Brady more for his lack of awareness on that play. Had he spotted Caldwell immediately who was waving his arms at Brady, it would’ve been a walk in touch down. By the time Brady saw it, he rushed the throw and kind of threw it forward where Caldwell had to reach for it.

No doubt. We had to have a lot go right to claw back from the 8 pt deficit halfway through the last quarter.

You sure this is real? I’m skeptical. I always thought it was a joke.

C'mon everyone...at least we can all agree that LdT is classy right? I mean, he's TOLD us how classy he is...don't you all agree?

tap tap tap...this thing on?...hello??? HELLO??? I don't think anyone's here...
