AFC Divisional: We're on to the Chargers (Beat LA!)

Pats 38 Chargers 35

The last five minutes of the game today removed any anxiety I had about the Chargers coming into Foxboro and beating the Pats in a playoff game. They did everything they could to choke that game away to a rookie QB whose strength is running the football. Yet there he was carving up the Chargers vaunted defense like it was a holiday turkey. IMO if the Pats bring their A game no way they get beat by Ol man Rivers and Co.

The Chargers appeared to shift into a soft-zone Prevent in Q4, while dialing back their aggressiveness up front, and it nearly cost them.

From posts I’ve read I would bet there are fans here who would rather lose in the AFCCG than risk another SB loss

I don’t think there are many, if any, fans who aren’t rooting for the Pats to get there and “risk” losing another. I do think there are a lot who, if the outcome was known and you knew the Pats wouldn’t win a title, would rather lose before the Super Bowl.

Key match up here is Brown vs. Bosa. Brown is a mountain of a man but doesn't have the quickest feet in the world. I would suspect a lot of help from Allen and Gronk to chip Bosa in order to give Brady more time. I also hope that this is the week that we see more Dorsett on the field. He has a skill set that the other receivers just don't have and has the speed to get open on the deeper and more intermediate routes as well as underneath. Even if he's just used as a decoy of sorts, he should help loosen things up underneath for Edelman, Hogan, and White.

Intellicast/WeatherUnderground:

Snow, moderate-to-heavy at times, beginning around 10am and continuing throughout the day and overnight. Total accumulations by Monday morning projected to be 5"-8".

Afternoon high temps in the mid-20s.

Winds out of the North, averaging 7-10mph from about Noon Sunday thru Monday morning.

No but you are being a bit too chicken little for my liking
Ok. But I have given up a long time ago caring which opponent they get in the playoffs because the few times I felt like we got very lucky in that regard they lost.

Nice. Snow for this team is like spinach for Popeye.

Agree. I don't care either. Who they play is who they play.

Patriots 27
Chargers 17

Flowers abuses the LAC guards, Rivers throws 2 interceptions. Chargers are the trendy pick but NE is the most dominant home team in football.

I thought I saw Bosa set across RT a few times, you think Cannon can deal with him better than Brown?

The Chargers move him. He also lined up at DT at times yesterday, too. But he's been matched up against the LT through a lot of his career.

It's almost as if you haven't watched a single game all season.

The Pats do have the personnel to exploit the Charger's OL. And they will.

Gordon will have to run a lot to recover from 2nd and 20's or 3rd and 15's. Sure he'll get his yards and it'll look good on paper but it only takes one 3rd down stop to stall a drive.

I kind of wish Baltimore was coming to town so that I could watch you completely shyt your pants over "an elite running QB".

The Pats DL is the worst in the playoffs. LA will double Flowers and then who is going to pressure the QBs?

It’s almost as if you’ve missed the fact that the Pats can’t stop the run or sack the QB without blitzing

So quick to resort to bullying that you miss actual factual analysis. Sad.

Ok but what about Cannon vs Bosa? I think the Pat's have faced pretty good D lines and rushers and faired well in pass protection but not sure of the actual rankings. I know that a guy like Watt has been schemed out of having much impact against Brady.
