I sincerely hope he starts, going forward.

I'm sure that the team has its reasons for how it's used Dorsett this season, and I'm not trying to say it's been wrong. But I sure as hell would like to know those reasons, because his numbers on the field would seem to indicate that he deserved a lot more playing time than he was getting once Gordon arrived.

it puzzles me also...all I can think of is he doesn't practice well. That has gotten other very useful players in the doghouse with BB but it sure raises a few questions. Wondered why Hogan had disappeared all season and today he has 11 targets. WTF?

I'm with you. All I can really come up with, as far as pure game planning, is a team decision to rely heavily on Gordon with Gronk struggling and Edelman first working himself back and then seeming to have some foot troubles.

Edelman over 16 games would have had 99 catches, 1140 yards and 8 TDs. Plus fielded punts all year - pretty darn good year for a 32 year-old off ACL surgery with “bad” hands.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
I'm guessing we see Dorsett as a major player in the playoffs.

2018 is more committed to the run game. Less emphasis in TE. No deep game. Active O line. Not a stout front 7 so O needs to protect D.

Every year is different.
But it’s the same offense. Those are minor differences and frequencies. When he hit the playoffs we will be a pass heavy team because we have Brady pulling the trigger and it works.
Pass/run/% pass

2018 595/478/55.5
2017 622/448/58.1
2016 574/482/54.4

No we haven’t committed more to the run.

The team I think right now is most dangerous is Indy, defense playing well, offense playing well....I dont think any team is playing well across the board, but the Pats regardless of playing the jets today looked pretty balance if not boring.,...boring is bad for other teams. KC doesn’t scare me, LAC looks like they are regressing, Ravens dont have any frigin offense. ........Pats. Don’t ever count out Brady and BB.

The Divisional time slots usually come out during Wild Card weekend. I can't imagine them giving us Sunday 1pm. I could see the Saints or KC getting the Saturday night slot over us this year.

Turns out I am an idiot, and they gave us Sunday at 1. Yuck

Compared to last year? Yeah. They have. Numbers show it. You cant see the team wanting to run the ball more?

Tom doesn't have the passing weapons in years past. Plus no Josh.

If they are behind he'll chuck it but their game is much more balanced now.

there's actually people COMPLAINING in this thread today?
I was thinking that to myself. "Brady still had throwing problems". I am like he threw 4 TD's. Some people on here will complain if he doesn't make all his throws.

They ran 2 times a game more. That is statistically insignificant and they ran LESS than they did in 2016.
They will throw the ball in the playoffs, they always do, and they should. They need to make the outcome as dependent upon the GOAT as possible.

If not the doghouse then it must start with the coach and QB's thinking. My guess, just a guess, is what these two see didn't mesh with the plays/packages they believe are optimal for high % quick release. Additionally they must have saw something with Gordon that made them think this guy would bring a definite-must have element to the high % quick release philosophy.
But I agree that from the eye test PD appears to bring production that can and should be used. And of course when I'm not working on a router/switch I'm much more in tune than TB-JM-BB with what the Patriots passing game needs
