I just watched the Pittsburgh Oakland highlights/game recap. They looked really bad with the exception of some ridiculous catches JuJu made. If the defense shows up, the Pats have a chance.

I wouldn't count on the bolded. I think they'll have to win a shoot out.

Roethlisberger is as much a drama queen as Rodgers. He leaves the game for significant time with a purported rib injury then comes back like nothing happened to pull them ahead.

Ok Capt Schettino. :D

Before anyone gets alarmed I'm referring to the infamous captain of the Costa Concordia who abandoned ship a few years ago although the name is ironically fitting.

Im not abandoning ship, but Im not an NPC Pats fan either.

If I was abandoning ship if would get rid of my Steelers tickets and save the money and time not driving 13 hours to Pittsburgh where it cant be any warmer than it is where I am now.

Thats the thing here, criticize the team and youre not a real fan, you want them to lose, Youre really a Jets fans on here for 20 years and today is the day that you have finally revealed yourself. Just because I always state what people dont want to read does not make me any of the aforementioned.

A bad road team is not winning at Heinz.

steelers haven't really been a great home team recently 4-5 in their last 9 and the 2 games before that 9 game stretch at home they won by a combined 4 points and needed last moment FGs to win

The 3 teams steelers have beat at home this year

Falcons
Browns
Panthers (Panthers might have been a quality win but it's not any more now that they have lost 5 in a row)

and say what you want about the Pats road problems but 3 of the 4 loses were Sept Pats & Mami which is 1 of 2 places they just seem to be jinxed playing at.

Also what seems to be ignored is the Pats have a very good road win, went into Soldier Field and beat the Bears and are still the team that has put up the most points against that Bears team and did it without Gronk

Steelers aren't looking all that impressive at the moment but the back to back road thing is a real concern right now.
This game is probably going to determine whether we get that playoff bye week.

Both the Steelers and Patriots are much worse versions of the teams they were just last year.

As much as we don't like the Patriots "only" being 9-4, the Steelers are wondering how in the hell they got to 7-5-1. Big Ben has thrown 5 more picks than Brady already and is entering absolute peak drama whore territory, while their defense has given up even more points than we have. They just lost to the Raiders, who make the Dolphins look like the Chiefs.

They're at home...where they have 3 out of 5 of their losses. Meanwhile the Pats have stunk out loud on the road this year.

Basically everything about this game screams "toss up" to me.

Neither do I want to jump off the Tobin, but that doesn't mean I can't complain about the way they lost this game. Does it?

By all means complain away, at no point did I intimate there wasn't something to b!tch about here. My point is what happened in Miami continued the bizarro world trend that is the Pats in Miami, the trend is exactly the opposite when it comes to playing the Steelers. I'm by no means upbeat after the way this loss happened, just realistic. This is a flawed team but so are all the other AFC div leaders and Pitt is the most flawed of the four.

Almost all of us look at the schedule when it comes out and does our mental W/L run through it. I would think most anyone that follows this team more than casually had this one as a L and Pittsburgh as a W, if for no other reason than because that's almost always how it plays out. While it hasn't played out quite the way I expected in it's entirety (I anticipated a L to Chicago and a W in Tennessee) I had the Pats at 12-4 with this game being one of them. Should they have won? Absolutely, overall they are the better team...but then that's been the case most every time they have gone down there and lost. Knowing that I just can't get myself into a tailspin over it. Now if they lose in Pittsburgh I'll be right there with the rest of the sky is falling crowd.

JuJu is scarier than AB for us right now. If they get him the ball in the open field...yikes.

I don’t think so. Been saying all season Pittsburgh is gonna score 50+ against THIS defense. Just an incredibly putrid defense. The Miracle in Miami just reinforced that fact.

Pittsburgh’s offense is 10x better than the Dolphins offense. Miami scored 34. It’s gonna be ugly.

I don’t think ANYTHING will affect the obvious outcome next week. I don’t care if we read BB makes them run the hill every practice, I don’t care about reading how pissed off the players are, I don’t care about how historically great the Pats are vs the Steelers, history won’t stop the inevitable. Steelers are gonna stomp us. There is no avoiding it.

So let’s beat the Bills and the Jets, and win the division, finish at 11-5.

I can’t see THIS team winning more than one playoff game.

Belichick needs to kill it in the next 2 drafts and FA periods, or we’ve seen our last Brady/Belichick championship. That may be a fact anyway already. Wasted so many opportunities to reinforce this team over the last few drafts, perpetually trading picks for future picks and not drafting players that could’ve helped in the present. Having 5 picks in the first 2 rounds of the 2018 draft, and walking away with 3 players, is a sin. Not having a Brady/Gronk replacement in the fold, especially when the 2018 draft was incredibly deep in both positions, was a sin. Not adding defensive studs over the last 5 drafts is a sin.

I feel blessed to have seen 5 Championships. FIVE ! But I feel sad seeing the opportunities missed in the last 5 drafts, which could’ve helped Brady, and the defense, keep this a championship caliber franchise.

You didn't watch the end of Superbowl LI did you.

We are playing Pittsburg after a loss so the game is perfectly winnable, as a matter of fact, i expect us to win because the offense in peeking at the right time.

Only team in the league with a SOV above .500, if the Pats are an above average soft team so is every other team in the league

Interesting. I'm curious, though, if the SOV changed because they lost to Miami? Otherwise, if we won against them twice, they would be wins against a losing team. o_O

I'm madder than Hell and I am also a little bit skeptical about this team right now but I am thankful for good upbeat people on this board like @maust1013 & @Tony2046 ...

(And several others)

@SammyBlueCat, I feel like I owe you an explanation for not including cathouse on the list of houses I believe the Pats would embarrass Pittsburgh in. It's just that Steelers coaches and players are so easily distracted that any game scheduled in one would lead to a Pittsburgh forfeit.

JuJu is scarier than AB for us right now. If they get him the ball in the open field...yikes.

The sad thing is JuJu almost pulled off last year what Miami just did yesterday. Apparently the 17 team could make near-catastrophic- game saving tackles that this team isn’t capable of/prepared to do.

I was just kidding and playing around with your ship analogy. I remembered the captain who abandoned his ship a few years ago but couldn't remember his name. So when I found out it was Schettino there was no way I couldn't use it. Haha

He’s so tough and gritty. The heart and determination of a champion. He’d amputate his leg to play the game. Ben will not be denied!

Thank you for your kindness. Although my influence has grown over the last few seasons, there is still a relatively small percentage of Patriots fans that share my interest in making the team Cat like quick. That is just the way it is. With that in mind, the Lions, Bengals, Panthers, or Jaguars will probably convert their home facility to a Cat house some day. I am not affiliated with any of those teams. I am a Patriot fan for life. :)

Turns out your safeties have to be on the field to make those.

When the Bengals were good back in the 80s, their home stadium was regularly branded "the Jungle" and they would blare the Guns N Roses song "Welcome to the Jungle".

My guess is you'd much prefer a nice ball of twine. ;)

What good does complaining do?
