All this talk of playoff seeding seems to have a “head in the sand” vibe to it.

Lots of good teams do.They've done this for years.
I agree - it should not have matteredWe lost from a play that had a likelihood of about 1% of success. If not less. I don't think it really makes too much sense to optimize on that end of the entire thing but on the 70yd miracle play.

And Brady will hang a 70- burger on their pathetic D. So what?
This is going to hurt, for a long, long time... This kind of loss can be devastating on a long run, too. We played a sloppy game, again. That's something what was, probably, expected. All three phases had their shares of positive and negative plays. And everything would be ok, if they didn't surrendered that last play. That's just unexcusable, pathetic and unacceptable.
I get that this team is not really built to go all the way, and I don't expect a SB, but this was a gut-wrenching loss. It's almost 2h since the game ended, I still feel sick.
Why I love this team so much? I was on the brink of mental breakdown, after the last play.
Brady had the one idiotic brain fart at the end of the 1/2....rest of the game he played well. You are the one who tries to somehow contort reality. The offense did not play good enough to score 37 points otherwise we would have won the game.
They had several shortfields thanks to 3 and outs by the defense and punt blocks by ST.

How dare you insinuate our Lord and Saviour Thomas Brady was not perfect and all-powerful?? You trying to sh*t on his legacy or something?Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Gordon, White
6 points in a half.
But that is not a problem and at all partly at fault for losing the game by one point.
Go watch some World Series highlightsHope you’re doing ok. It’s not good to let the game get to you that deeply. It’s meant for enjoyment. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, that sucks, but life goes on.
Play a video game or something for a while and get your mind off it of and you’ll realize it’s not such a big deal ultimately. Don’t fret
That'sd certainly what everybody does, but I don't think it's a given. If you call the right play, you probably have a 20% chance of scoring. If they stop you, they won't be able to get a FD try. Here, there was a chance for a weird return, or a weird final play. I don't see them doing something similar if they start from the 2 or 1.
In all honesty I was just watching the last play of the game and like I just posted about Pittsburgh....EVERY single problem this team has is evident on that last play. This entire team is SLOPPY, Lazy, undisciplined, HORRIBLY coached, and lacking any intensity passion or fire!!! Did you watch the laziness, and Non aggressiveness.....and utterly WORST tackling attempts and execution I HAVE EVER witnessed in almost 40 years of watching/following this team! That play should have been over after the FIRST LATERAL.....Hit them in the chest hard and with intensity....that looked like my 3rd grade gym team playing fcking two hand touch with all the kids that weren’t athletes at all and didn’t want to get dirty!!!
That play will go down in sports history as one of the most embarrassing, laughable, and PATHETIC efforts on a play!!!.....The entire team coaches and organization should be Ashamed!!!!!!
BB and Tom are proven to be specialHe'll do it this time. Book it. Mahomes is special.
Pats are a great team at home.Good/great teams don't let what transpired on the last play happen.
This isn't a bad team, but it's not good enough to win it all.
It would be cool if Patsfans.com had a no re-entry policy like the stadiums do.And for you bandwagon fans jumping off the bus, see you later, stay away fair weather fans.
Pats are a great team at home.
On the road not so much at least this season
