I'm seeing people saying last night (Rams-Chiefs) was an awesome game. It sucked

Way back in 03-04, the Colts and Chiefs lined up for a shootout in the AFC Divisional game. I don't think either team punted, with the Colts winning 38-31.

Meanwhile, the Patriots and Titans fought it out in the Ice Bowl...17-14 Pats, a field-position, defensive struggle.

I watched the other game shaking my head. Awful football. I feared that was the future of the league when the rule-changes started after the Pats then beat Lord Peyton the following week.

Now I find myself longing for the days when 38-31 was a high-scoring shootout.

I'm becoming utterly uninterested in the product the NFL is putting out.I don't find it particularly exciting to see Tyreke Hill running 80 yards untouched after those cheap little rub-slant plays.

When it's once in a while, it's exciting. When it's every damned drive, it's boring. The rules need to shift back to make defense something more than having four guys scrambling to kill...oops, I mean tickle, a QB within 2 seconds.

the same people complaining about the lack of defense are the people that would come in here during the game day thread where the patriots are locked in a 13-13 tie heading into the final minute of the game and complain that the patriots suck and they don't have enough offense and that the game was terrible.

Yeah, I mean a defense would have intercepted the ball a couple of times and forced a fumble at least once. Oh, wait.

105 points, 1065 yards. If you think that young QBs holding the ball too long and throwing footballs up for grabs = defense, then I have prime ocean front property in Arizona with your name on it.

I expected more from professional nfl defensive players.

It depends on if you're a real FOOTBALL fan, which includes enjoying strong defensive play. I find more drama and tension in a hard-fought defensive struggle than last night's basketball-in-cleats farce. The best game of the weekend was Steelers at Jacksonville, which ended 20-16.

No, we're not.

If every game was like that then yeah it’d suck if defense was that bad, but that was a hell of a lot of fun. An all time classic. It had a Super Bowl feel to it.

A true fan of the game loves every game equally.

;)

It was a fun game. Those saying it sucked because of the offenses most likely would be thrilled if we were that explosive.

I would’ve had a similar feeling to our game against kc. Happy with the offense, upset with the 2nd half defense.

Can we at least put into perspective that this was one game? Both of these teams are constructed to where they have unbelievable innovative offenses, and very flawed defenses. This was bound to happen.

You act like the SNF game played the night before wasn’t 25-20.

Not an all-time great game to me, but it was entertaining to watch. The defenses forced 7 punts and while the last two INTs were gifts, the other TOs were forced by stellar defensive plays. I preferred the days when defensive backs were not so hogtied by the rules, but it is what it is. I have a feeling that if you can't hold your own in shootouts like that, you chances for success in the future NFL is minimal.
