Sony Michel Injury (update: Expected to Play Week 10 vs Titans)

Just an observation, Michel is a very talented RB , he already was in College and that translated well in the NFL. That talent was resulting in 100 yards a game and making the offense so much more dynamic (kudos to the OL as well).

I just hope that people stop with that narrative that RB is a plug and play position and you shouldn't waste draft capital in RB's before the 6th round and etc...Talent is talent and you can include the physical attributes of the given player in this talent assessment. Talent will always hard work, dedication etc...except when the talented player is a dumbass and that already puts that given player out of our board.

So there's no problem drafting a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round, I actually wanted them to double dip at RB this year since they choose to get Michel in the 1st. RB's don't usually bust so it's what I call functional players, players who are on the field and getting snaps, helping the team, not these BUSTS of DBs who never see the field. That's what I expect from players in the 2nd and 3rd round, players who are active and contributing to the team. Starters. I know Derrius Guice is on IR but it was bad luck not medical history. It would be so much better to draft him instead of this bust DB I don't even remember his name.

The logic is that the Pats need a RB that can run the ball. White is good but not great at that. He is a fantastic pass catching back. Le'Veon is both and great runner and a great receiver.

Personally, I would not do it as I think Brady and White have something that just works. But wanted to see what people thought.

MCL sprain?

Ice up, son!

If anyone uses the name Le'Veon Bell in this thread, outside of demonstrating just how ridiculous it is to bring up his name, or to directly make fun of someone else for advocating/speculating about a trade for him, they should be banned forever from humanity.

Bell for a pick depending on the michel situation perhaps, but I’m not including white in any deal for bell. It will be a pick period. Or maybe throw in eric Rowe.

O.K...

I think it's a terrible idea that will never happen.

We've got 1 capable guy out of the backfield now in James White plus a Brandon Bolden-esque replacement in Barner. While White is not a power back,

1) He has significantly improved rushing between the tackles every season in his career to date.
2) He already has 6 receiving TDs and 45 receptions, which is NFL-record pace for receiving backs
3) He is great at pass protection
4) He is on a very cheap contract
5) Has been the most durable running back the team has had in ages

Why would you want to trade that, PLUS a 2nd round pick this year, for a guy who is clearly an improvement between the tackles, but doesn't know this offense's pass protection sets, doesn't know this offense's passing routes, will cost about $8M more on this year's salary cap (where the team has <$5M to play with), will be a free agent next year, and likely wouldn't even play for you unless you signed him to a huge extension right away. And on top of that, you'll still be left with just one running back plus Barner.

What are the different grades of MCL sprains?

It just so happens that the best unemployed RB out there just happened to play for the Patriots last season and was with us through TC this year.

Mike Gillislee is home collecting $70,833 a week from the Saints for not playing. But, he probably would come back to work for say $1oo,000 a week from the Pats. That would take approximately $900,000 of cap for the rest of the season. But, I think it’s worth it at this point.

Would people trade James White and a #2 for Le'Veon Bell?
I do that deal under the following conditions:
  1. Bell leaves his ego in Pittsburgh and completely embraces the NEP culture , puts winning #1, his teammates second and himself 3rd
  2. He negotiates his new deal so he has the same exact cap hit as White for the next 4 seasons
  3. He pass blocks enthusiastically
Seeing how those three conditions are non-starters for Bell, I'll stop here with the pipedream

What are the different grades of MCL sprains?
3 grades: Mild, moderate, severe. Spouse sprained mcl over a year ago and still had some issues until last month. Hope his is not a severe sprain.

From 98.5:

  • Sources say MRI is done
  • Injury not considered serious
  • Could miss time, but not much
