Sony Michel Injury (update: Expected to Play Week 10 vs Titans)

My wife is starting to worry about this, as well as some other possibly significant work due to a bad car accident about 35 years ago.

I keep it light by talking to her about the parts I do, and don't, want replaced or "improved." :) Her shoulder seems to be working fine, as I've been ducking a lot as objects get thrown at me.

I used to give my wife a hard time, although she never threw anything at me just didn’t talk to me for a few weeks and made me wash my own clothes and cook myself dinner. Lol

What are you basing that on?

Three straight 100 yard games and we suddenly dont need a running game?

It’s not critical to have Michel vs Tennessee, Buffalo or GB. We have White and Barner. Let him rest up until after the bye.

Agree on not rushing Sony.

Disagree that we don't need a early down running threat.

Need to find a way to keep defenses honest regardless of how good a run D they have

I’m just talking wins and losses, but I’m sure Bill will get someone off street for the next few games or for ever long Michel’s out for. Obviously, we can’t have just James White in the backfield.

Some people call Sony Michel "injury prone". I call him "The last member of the 2018 Patriots Draft Class to go on IR* and therefore the Iron Man of the bunch".

*Except Keon Crossen and PS Danny Etling

Yes. Would still need another RB for November/December. Only 2 on roster.

AFAIK, Burkhead is eligible to begin practicing with the team (on a two-game roster exemption) in wk-10, and eligible to be reactivated off IR for wk-13 (Minny, Dec. 2nd). The BYE is wk-11, so Burkhead would get as much as three weeks of practice before coming back.

So, they may only need another RB for the next four games (if Michel is coming back).

Of course it’s critical. We can’t afford to lose to a team we should beat because we can’t run the ball.

Our current slate of games right now isn't too concerning.

Bills won't be won or lost based on having a run game.
Packers secondary is relatively bad, so it likely would have been a pass happy game with Michel.
Titans aren't very scary to us.
Same with the Jets.

Probably the next crucial game we would need him back for is against Minnesota, but he should hopefully be great by then. Our remaining slate of games, based on how the season has played out so far, isn't too problematic.

Need him back, hope he can come back 100%. He started to become a major part of the offense and was pretty damn good...damn he looked good before that injury...

I wouldn't say that, obviously would prefer to have him but think the Pats can make do with White, Barner and whoever the might get in the meantime. I know it's a small sample size and it wasn't some elite running but I liked what I saw from Barner yesterday

Bills are 16th in rush yards allowed per game
Packers are 20th
Titans are 18th

With the way OL has been playing think they could get by with White & Barner during this next month

100% disagree.
Acting like games are easy wins is exactly how you lose.
Thinking we are so great we can be one dimensional and it won’t even matter will cause losses no matter who the opponent.

Agreed. I think, however, we might be able to get by with White and Barner for the next few games if we can sign someone decent to back them up. Barner hasn't looked 1/2 bad in relief of Michel and yesterday when we needed him (which admittedly, wasn't much). The question is, who is available?

Who says we won’t be able to run the ball vs Buffalo, GB and Tennesee without Michel?

I thought aj cornered the market on rose colored glasses.

Belichick WILL sign a RB this week. And yes, we will have almost no run game with Barner as our primary running back for the next 3 weeks.

Exactly, we’re not playing Jax the next few games. I would say getting him back against Minnesota is important.

Hopefully just an mcl sprain

Over the next 3 weeks, I'm more worried about GB shredding our defensive backs.

I've given up on worrying about this. Let's face it, it's going to happen. I'm more focused on Brady being able to keep up in a shoot-out, which he and the rest of the O are very good at, but with injuries to Gronk & Michel, it's concerning.
