Week 7: We’re on to Chicago

It really sucks that Jules and Gronk spend so little time on the field together (like it sucked we couldn't enjoy more of Gronk-Bennett extravaganza) . at least this can be a good test how this new offense functions wo Gronk if need be when matters most..

Id say CHI RB game is more dangerous for NE D than KC's . more versatile & explosive on a shared workload..

Yes. But to be honest I will take that over the insane explosive passing game KC has.

Oh they have potential, but Trubisky is not there yet. And while they have the same archetypical players in their offense as KC they are not even close on any level.

Gabriel is not Hill. Burton is not Kelce. Cohen is really good but not Hunt.

And while I agree that their defense is definitely better than what KC had I just don't see their offense hanging with us. Now I don't think it will be a blowout -- unless they **** the bed and turn it over -- but in the end it will be a nice 2 possession victory.

If Nagy starts to overcompensate with aggressiveness for how he didn't trust his QB last week in the OT in Miami then it might actually be over by halftime.

Good point on Nagy's trust with Trubisky. He doesn't seem to fully trust him yet and will play conservatively because of that lack of trust. I noticed that. For example when they were up 30 points vs TB near the end of the half they wouldn't throw it to try to go up another score rather they ran it and settled for a field goal. Ticky tack judgement on my part I know but I think Nagy didn't want to chance on shaking Trubisky's confidence by throwing an int or something or at least that's the feeling I got. They definitely didn't go for the jugular. OTOH they didn't really have to. It will be interesting to see how they play call on Sunday.

If they try to become too aggressive defensively Brady will burn them. Fitz/ Winston missed their hot reads during blitzes a few times. Brady won't.

In my mind the comparison between Hill/Gabriel and Hunt/Cohen are reversed. IOW I look at it as Cohen to Hill and Gabriel to Hunt as far as a big play threat goes. I do agree that Hill and Hunt are the more dangerous pair but not by much and the difference may be simply because of the QB's and TE's they are playing with. Burton is not Kelce and Trubisky is not Mahomes.

I think there is a good possibility that Trubisky will either throw a pick or make some bad throws ending or stalling their drives and giving Brady the ball back. So I agree that they won't have enough to keep up with the Pats offensively.

I'd go with your 2 possession prediction as well.

Side Note: My "predict the score" prediction is a thing my son and I do together so the 31-10 is just he and I having some fun.

Brady has a great arm but it's going to be tough to throw to Gronk while he

"Highly unlikely."

Brady has a great arm but it's going to be tough to throw to Gronk while he's 981 miles away.

I want my money back. No Gronk? I came all this way? Did he stop the Avocado ice creme injections? How the hell do they run the ball with no Gronk or Cannon? Tom will be throwing 50 times on Sunday. MacDonald better not call those slow developing plays!

No doubt. Of course its the CHI QB who holds them back most of the time from what i saw. Hopefully he doesn't break out tomorrow..
With 9 TDs vs 1 INT along with 300+ and consecutive 70% completion percentages in his last two games, he may have already broken out.

Interested to see the use of Develin in this one, particularly with Gronk out and Allen likely being the only tight end.

Hopefully Develin can make a mark against a pretty good Bears run D, and turn some of those would be 0-2 yard runs into 4+ yard runs and keep the balance going. Also wouldn’t mind seeing him chip in here and there on Mack by being physical, and testing out just how healthy he is after a few hard collisions.

Hollister doesn't seem to have the most important ability.
Yeah, not to sound negative, but let’s call this like it is. To this point, Hollister has been a big disappointment. I think we need another option in the TE grouping. I’m not saying they should move on, but they shouldn’t stand around holding their ****s waiting for him to contribute, either.

You can count on it. James Devlin has proven to be a big piece of this offense, and I’m glad that he’s here.

Worst pair of backup TEs in football. Period.

Not sure I agree. Yes 9:1 is nice but if you look a bit deeper into the last two games: the Bucs have been consistently the worst defense in this league. A game later his coaching staff didn't trust him at all to make a throw in OT when playing Miami. And it cost them the game. This is not the sign of a player who "is there". He is still developing.. and that is not a bad thing at all but I can't help thinking that facing a BB defense will be too much for him.

For now he is still on of the players who need some hand holding by their coach / OC.

We all knew his rookie year would be a wash as it is for most TEs. And in his second year he had been injured for most of the time. I think he might be the player most "screwed" by the Gordon acquisition.

What were your expectations going into the season with Hollister ?

After hearing about his bulking up and improved blocking all offseason long, my expectations were that he would see the field and possibly even contribute something to the team.

He might still do that it is only week 7. Hell, he might be the long term plan to shed Allen next season.

The suggestion was that he had been holding his team back and that he hadn’t had a breakout game yet.

I pointed to the last 2 games where he hit a 70% completion rate, with 300+ yards in each game for a total of 9 TDs and 1 pick. I think he’s been better than the poster had suggested, considering the fact that he effing blew last year.
