I feel like every year this team goes 2-2 in the first 4 weeks, and every year there's a ton of fans that start panicking over it.

Anyone with an attention span greater than a hamster's knows that BB spends the first 4 weeks of the season putting the puzzle pieces together and shaking down the roster, and that far more often than not, more than half of the team's losses come by week 4 even in years when the team goes deep into the playoffs.

Sadly, a large swath of Patriots fans don't seem to quite attain that lofty pinnacle of paying more freaking attention from one year to the next than your average hamster.

I mean, look at the history. You can almost write a 2-2 start to the season in pen at this point, because it happens a lot more often than not. The only recent exception was the Defamegate revenge tour when the team was truly playing for something in those first 4 games, and even then they'd have gone 2-2 if LeGarritte Blount and Martellus Bennett hadn't helped our third string QB steal a game in Week 3.

So if the team has to win a game against the unstoppable Miami machine in order to go 2-2... I kind of have to feel like not only do the Patriots have this, but that this is pretty normal. It takes BB time to separate the wheat from the chaff and adjust his roster to his liking, and he spends a lot of effort in the first 4 games on identifying holes in his roster and making tactical adjustments. The sort of thing a coach can only do in realtime after seeing real results.

How can any Pats fan calling themselves a Pats fan sweat a 2-2 start to the season at this point? It's happened FAR more often than not by now. Most of the time, the team only loses maybe 1 other game the entire way.

Just some food for thought. There's something to be learned from history. Just ask BB himself, who is apparently an avid historian among his other great attributes. Take a page from his book and learn from history yourself. You'll enjoy the traditionally slow starts to the season a lot more.

They beat the Dolphins and it was very impressive but it's the Dolphins lets wait until the Chiefs come into Gillette with a bunch of weapons and a good team before we start throwing a party and claim everything is fixed.

It's not like anyone is crowning them SB champs after managing to get back to 2-2 against a giant question mark of a team.

I think the larger point is that there's a pattern where this team plays its best football from October onward.

That's arguably the 1st or 2nd strongest Patriots' team in the history of our franchise losing to Patrick Frickin' Ramsey and the Redskins early in the season leaving us at 2-2.

The point is that with a gameplan centric team like ours we're always going to struggle until there's enough video of our opponents and ourselves to start finding weak spots, patterns, etc. Meaning you really can't know what we're going to be looking like, as a team, in September.

Agreed. A win is a win, but they've definitely got a long ways to go. I'm still wary of the defense. The offense will be fine as usual, although the o-line seems very inconsistent in the running & passing game.

I'm not sure about the defense either, but i don't get why the 0-line is playing the way it is. Solder is gone but the rest of the line is the same as last year, so why the inconsistant play?

How many years will people continue to make stupid "How many years" threads when the team wins one game after some bad play? Everyone, including the trolls, knew that they'd make adjustments and eventually get better than they were. But the team has been floundering about trying to get the WR position fixed, and was so desperate that they traded for the biggest gamble in the league. The CB position was such a problem that the CB2 had already been benched. The LB "fix", who's just a low round addition, is already on IR.

The question is not whether or not they could ever get another win. The question is whether or not this is still a top team in the league. And that's, obviously, still TBD.

How many years will this happen and then they have an impressive win and everyone thinks that this is a good defense? I have news for you... the win was great, but the defense is still an issue. The offense was better, however, and allowed the defense to play within the parameters that they were built to play within. And that’s more or less what we need to hope for this season. The defense is a liability but will the offense be good enough to cover it up?

It's just one game. Tom Brady could get hurt Thursday (knock on wood) and the Pats lose the rest of the game on the schedule this year. You just don't know. Don't chastise people for being legitimately concerned after two very poor performances.

My son and I went to that skins game. The best part of the game was the drunk hottie that kept standing up and shaking her stuff in the row in front of us.

There is a difference between legitimate criticism and over the top negativity and entitlement

It's back to normal. The patriots should now be heavily favored to be in the playoffs and to win the division.

Good chance they'll lose that game. Then again, the last two seasons they lost to the Chiefs in the regular season, they went to the Super Bowl (winning one of those two).

The defense wasn't a liability today. They absolutely stuffed Miami all game long.
