My main takeaways:

1. We can stop the hot takes about Flores' defence being better than Patricia's. It's Bill's D and always will be. Looked pretty similar to last year to me.

2. We need more playmakers on D. We looked slow at LB and in the secondary. Hightower looks a big concern to me. Wouldn't be surprised to see him traded by mid-season. Both McCourtys were also regularly trailing. We got beat on so many shallow crossers - that has been a problem for some time.

3. Off-season acquisitions on D not looking good again. Clayborn, Shelton, McCourty all not contributing at all. You get what you pay for I guess - middling players.

4. Offensively, we weren't good but I'm hopeful that with Edelman back things will improve. At the minute we are making an offense out of nothing with gadget plays to Patterson.

5. If Cannon can't go then the offensive line is a worry. Waddle got beaten repeatedly and it's a concern when communication errors happen between your interior 3 when they've played together for 3 years straight.

6. Michel showed some glimpses. We'll need him going forward. Burkhead and White are still both mediocre runners. Much better as receivers.

7. Despite all that we were a Brady fumble away from making this a close game. Belichick teams always seem to improve and we've seen plenty of bad September losses lead to superbowls. Let's see where we are in December.

Jacksonville threw their best at us today, they only managed an 11 point win. Which when I see this morning doesn’t feel it was the case.

No way that the Jags can use that game plan vs us again though, more fool them if they can’t come up with a different elaborate scheme. Week two isn’t that important though.

Like you said, it's just one game in Sept., so no one should be overreacting. But since you brought it up, there were many who were concerned all summer with the lack of speed and athleticism at LB, as well as questions in the secondary.

Yes, Chung was injured but the depth at the position could have been improved for reasonable cost, particularly for a team that uses 3-4 safety looks in a year where safeties were very cheap. Moving JMac to address that just seemed odd, not only for the position, but also for the cost. In my opinion, it’s highly debatable as to whether or not Jason should even be on the team.

Eric Rowe sucks ass, but I’ve been saying that for awhile so my opinion is crazy biased. The loss of Butler wasn’t really addressed, at least for 2018. The draft day decision to take Dawson may pan out down the road, but it’s hard to see how it’s going to benefit this team in 2018. Again, JMac + selecting Dawson never seemed to be the answer to me, but I try not to question someone so intelligent and accomplished. I also don’t want to be categorized as someone overly pessimistic, so I don’t comment on the concerns as much as some others.

The injuries to Wynn and Cannon have been unfortunate, but I just don’t think that Waddle is the answer. Thus far, Belichick has disagreed and Waddle has stayed on much longer than I ever expected. Obviously, they see something positive with him, so here’s hoping that he improves a bit.

Again no one is saying Brady had a good day out there. No one did other than James White. The top reasons we lost this game were;

1. Dominated in trenches on both sides.
2. Horrendous third down defense and getting abused by short passes over the middle.
3. Bad offensive play calling.

Brady didn't have a good game by his standards. Nor did he 'suck'.

Where did I say he sucked ? Did you see me complaining that he forced a ball to Dorsett instead of taking the first down throw to Develin ? No. Because plays like this happen.

But the reality is that the offense could not find a single matchup they liked and then looked pedestrian and could not take advantage of getting two turnovers.

I honestly think Josh McDaniels is ******ed at times. It has been obvious for at least three years that handing the ball of to James White is a waste of a time. I don't want to hear anything about keeping the defense honest because it is simply wasting a down. Also, I like David Andrews, but he has never been able to consistently move anyone so why do we try to run up the gut behind him so much. If we are committed to running the ball we should seriously consider Karras at center.

We needed more deep shots and not dink and dunk the clock away. Maybe we get pi etc. What is truly upsetting is we had no time for a proper comeback because WE wasted clock in the second quarter. Some will say our defense needed the break but I disagree. We seem to always field a team that is conditioned well and it is not like they could have played any worse.

Lastly, Patterson needs to become a full fledged running back. Just imagine his rushing attack not being confined to reverses and wheel routes against linebackers.

Brady sucked. The OL sucked. Hogan and Gronk were MIA.

The defense was bad but at least produced 2 turnovers. If you can't win against Jacksonville when you are up two turnovers then you don't deserve to win.

Hope there is enough tape to learn and move on.

Those shots down field have never been the ones Brady was good at. Particularly along the sidelines. Give Brady a deep seam route and it's there all day..

The offensive play calling was an issue today. I blame McDaniels and Brady for it. 3 straight runs to Michel up the gut was just silly.

Not going for it on 4th and inches when Brady is the king of those sneaks is silly. Hell, they could have done a fake where the ball went back to the HB with Brady doing his dive and let the HB go wide.

Brady missed several wide open guys.

I agree. That it was never his strength but that's where the disconnect between people complaining about WRs showing no separation and the reality happens.

In terms of playcalling I am not sure. The thing is that if the opponent shows you a box that is favorable to run you do it. We have heard this from BB, Brady and also Josh many, many times. So without rewatching the sequence and looking at what Jacksonville did I can't really say anything about it.

The offense doesn’t concern me nearly as much, but there are certainly issues. Now that Hill and Gillislee are no longer options, everything is pretty much pinned on Michel’s ability to get an actual running game going. Burkhead can contribute, but we need Michel to catch fire, and that’s a lot to ask for a rookie. For example, an 800 yard rookie season would normally be something to be reasonably optimistic about, but I highly doubt that’s going to be anywhere close to enough, unless we’re assuming much larger roles from Burkhead, White, or possibly even Webb. I don’t want to overreact, but I think that the injury to Hill last week changes a lot.

The wide receivers aren’t very good. I mean, they’re almost certainly good enough to go 11-5 or something, but when the chips are down, this group lacks talent. Patterson isn’t very good as an actual receiver, and they haven’t been creative enough with him, either. Dorsett looks to be improved and could be a 50-60 catch guy with lots of underneath stuff, but again—is it going to be enough to win big games when they count on a consistent basis? Edelman is coming back, but that’s a lot of weight falling on his shoulders, particularly for a guy who may be a bit rusty and coming off of major injury. I was pleased to see them get Hogan involved more, so the hope is that Edelman comes back as his dominant self, and Hogan sees trickle down benefits as the second option.

You’re a clown. No sh*t the jaguars have one of the best defenses in the league. I am not asking for a super defense but an average one. This defense is dreadful. He goes out there and gets a guy like clayborn who got half his sacks against the cowboys.

And, yet, when all is said and done we will again end up as one of the better defenses like we do every year allowing among the least points and absolute morons like you will continue calling them bad.

Hell you were whining about the Vikings defense yesterday for about 3h.

It is the same procedure as every year.

But in an era where every damn thing is accessible to people as they please whether that's specific music on a click, a particular movie on a click or whatever food they want on a click it seems that there is no patience anymore and everything has to be ready immediately.

The goal is a SB title in February and not going 4-0 in September. As has been said by many people before the season started this is a process and no matter how the team looks in the first few weeks it will evolve and find its identity only towards the middle/end of October.

If there were a better tackle who is healthy enough to play on the roster than Waddle then that player would play. Scar, BB and Josh see their players almost every day in practice so if Croston were a better option -- which he clearly is not -- he would play.

That being said we played against two of the best DLs in the league in the first two games (with the second game in absurd heat) and are down two tackles due to injury. So while things could have gone a lot better lets not overreact to this as well.

Thats the thing Brady is obviously not more an issue than individual issues everywhere else. But he played as garbage as the rest of this team.

I am not doubling down because every quote you provide pretty much makes my case of not calling out Brady specifically but the entire offense by implication. But keep digging maybe you find a post where I actually say "its Bradys fault". (Spoiler alert: you wont).

Positives - Michel looked good when he was on the field. Dorsett and Brady seem to have a good trust now. James white was a threat.

Negatives - everything else.

Was such a poor performance from ourselves, the jags played well but we didn’t help ourselves at times. Not sure what else to say really
