Are we on to Houston yet?

Let’s see what dorsett and Patterson can do. Hogan needs to do a better job getting open against man coverage. He has struggled with that.

I get what you are saying but the game is ultimately completely meaningless except for the result. The teams that we will see on Sunday are something different than what will go into crunch time in December.

Only thing I want to see in September is a win. Everything else, positive and negative, is a work in progress and should not be overreacted to.

As long as we win I am more curious to see the areas in which this team struggles than the ones they nail. Because the sooner there is a clear picture of weaknesses the faster you can try to adjust for them.

JJ Watt concerns me because he's the king of the late hit. I can't recall seeing another player get away with as many hits on the QB long after a pass has been thrown.

BB / Patricia has schemed against him amazingly well in the past. Has he ever done anything of consequence in a game against us ?

I think you are in for disappointment. Of course we will go with contain.

As I said, test him early. If he can run, switch to the contain. If he can’t, then light him up.

I understand your point but I think as usual the defense will pick its spots carefully to send proper pressure. The first 2 drives will be about figuring out what the Texans want to do and find a way to counter act that.

We will see. I just would not expect any change at all with how we play potentially mobile QBs.

Watson likely will have a good game if they contain. It’s gonna be closer that way. The defense will never change. I wonder if the texans will try to exploit these LBs in space.

I don't think he's been very effective but he's always going strong after the pass hoping to get in a late hit on Brady. He reminds me of Suh in that regard and those are the type of players that I worry about.

Have we faced Houston’s defensive front with Watt, Clowney, Mercilus? Usually, at least 1 is injured...

i'm thinking Watson has lots of time to throw and picks apart the Patriots typical loathesome defense vs mobil qbs - to wit, last year's first 4 games were all vs mobile qbs - Smith, Watson, Brees, Newton...how'd Bill's Defensive Mastermind defense fair vs those teams? A sparkling 1,341 yards, 11 tds, 3 picks...perhaps Bill's "contain" defense really doesn't work vs mobile quarterbacks vs anyone other than Roethliesberger - who's not really even mobile anymore because he's so fat...

Woof. If Dorsett still looks like the same guy that he's been since he's been in the league (which is a bust), that's an ugly hand to be dealt if you're Brady.

We've seen enough of those two throughout their careers...Dorsett is at best a #4 and Pattersson hasn't shown he can run a proper pass route...

So, will Josh McD be able to scheme protection against JJ Watt w/o Patricia? Never realized Josh McD needed so much help from his DC. Will Flores be up to doing Josh's job for him?

Yeah, but nobody delivers the late hit like JJ.

So you assume that there is no input from a DC when it comes to dealing with opponents pass rushers ?

I don't think Josh has anything at all to do with the OL schemes.

Jeremy Hill has shown something.
Gronk is happy.
Hogan always flies under the radar.
James White can deliver.

Maybe Dorsett is a new man?
Patterson should bring something of value.
Hard to fathom that BB would keep 2 Bum WRs who have no value or future on this team.

Brady will short pass Houston to death.

Have to disagree here. Josh may not get into the nitty gritty of OL techniques, but he absolutely has input and knowledge of the blocking schemes and responsibilities. He wouldn't be able to draw up a proper play without that.

No.

I'd certainly hope he has SOME knowledge of them.

Fun fact: Patriots are 9-1 against the Texans, with that one loss coming in at week 17 where Welker went down.

Still, should be a good game and could be a tough one.

HOU are still our *****es but the last two games vs them have not been easy (2016 playoffs and last year). They are getting closer.
