BTW Pats get some 0.8M of cap space (1.3M for Britt minus new 51. salary).

Straight cut is the fastest way to potentially bring him back.

They were extremely patient for BBs standards. He's not practicing. Tried a bit and went back to rehab unit. They need a healthy WR weeks 1-4. He might be coming back if hamstring allows full go. Its not like teams are hungry for average veteran WRs who are not able to practice at the end of August..

Repeating from the other thread in light of new situation:

Since McCarron and Berrios (reportedly limited) dont look like they can adequately step in at WR or returning . id look at WR/PR options emphasis on PR for low rounder trade.

De'A Thomas is on the bubble in KC, R.Davis should be available from PHI, Raymond from NYG, Green or Mickens from JAX..

If trade is coming for pure WR it should be a bigger one.

Despite diminished WR depth . it will be a logjam w remaining WRs getting some game throws from Brady this preseason. Jules needs them for suspension, Hogan, Hollister for some game rhythm, Dorsett to finally show they can connect, Patterson would be advisable in new situation and of course Decker if he wants to survive to next week.. (and then there are RBs..)

There's only some 2 Qs left for Brady before week 1.. Very few reps to bring new guys in

Two possible scenarios.

1) The $ the Pats offered was way below what he wants/expects as he told them he only wants to play this year under the current deal and be a FA in 2019 to get his dollars up. Seeing how he still needs a few weeks to be in the swing of things, Pats wanted positional security now and both sides decided to part ways.

2) Howe is full of crap and this report is wrong

Sucks a lot because the patience they showed for him really implies that he must have shown something in Spring. The reported extension just emphasizes that. I guess we hit some deadline and he was not able to make it. Eirher way a sudden turn of events.

I don't have an issue with bringing anyone even Dez in for a look I just feel like it is kinda late to expect anything from whoever shows up. Especially players where nothing in their history implies a potential fit.

But stranger things have happened. Maybe Andy is right and Decker is coming along. No clue.. lets see where this is going.

Howe is usually not given to wild speculation. I think he's one of the more reliable Pats writers. Not saying it's absolutely option #1, but..

Jacob Hollister is a TE so he's not part of this equation

Cody Hollister, the WR, is on IR

Wow....

So, this means the depth chart is now (for me):

Edelman (suspended)
Hogan
Dorsett
Patterson (KR)
McCarron (PR)
Slater (Gunner)
Decker (4 week audition?)

Look at it this way JE was lost for the 2017 whole season. This year it's 4 games. Cooks went to sleep for ~4 games, JE is more reliable with a shi-ton more YAC. DA is gone and Hogan replaces him, both clutch guys who get dinged a bit. Now they need someone to replace Hogan with the 8 games lost ~400 yards 40 catches. ..and Hogan was popped hard vs the Chargers, anyone would have missed time with that.

Who rises up? Patterson is a nice gimmick guy, but that must be metered in. McCarron had a decent catch last week and was PR. Decker has looked uncomfortable. Dorsett has looked good in practice.

I think Dorsett is first man up and McCarron is plan B unless Decker shows marked improvement.

Hard to remember too many other Brady led offenses with so little depth across the board -WR, TE, RB, OL. It's not even week 3 of the preseason and the team looks like you can't withstand an injury anywhere. In Brady/coaches we trust but their offseason maneuvering has flopped miserably on that side of the ball.

2013 - not so hard

2013 - not so hard

Coming out of camp, OL was deeper, RB was outright better, TE was the same, WR was roughly the same but I'd go with 2013 as better since 2013 Edelman is better than 2018 Edelman and wasn't suspended, Amendola and Hogan are a wash and the 3-5 for both teams are/were bad

A guy on twitter has an "inside source" saying that Patriots and Dez are in contract talks...13346402_632287723590622_5386270577223165942_n.jpg

Is he taking his tub with him?

Im almost sure Dez is coming now.
I think it’s more likely that we sign UDFA Johnny B Goode. 3 yr starter from Never Heard of Me U. Undersized, productive, injury issues that plagued his college career. Has been working at Lowe’s since he went un-drafted, loading lumber and throwing rocks has kept him strong and pliable.
