Horrible post. Re-read your last sentence again and research Hicks's 2nd contract w CHI

It is not a horrible post but a Lombardi quote essentially verbatim. I just happen to agree with it.

My problem with Branch has always been the qualifier everyone had to use in preseason: "If we get last year's Branch". Until well into camp you never knew if _this_ would be the year where he stopped giving 100%. So saying the team "settled" for Branch is not even really hindsight. Qualifiers were used all the time when talking about him.

That being said we got 2.5 really good years out of him. It is a shame how it ended last year.

All you pro & con Butler obsessed assholes polluting every thread, feel free to self-ban until you can control yourselves bro one thread. And you guys wanted to be my Latex Salesman.

I wish I could put "Agree" and "Funny" up simultaneously. I'm getting sick and tired of the simplistic Malcolm Butler analysis of the Super Bowl. Turning every thread into a blame BB - Butler as the Messiah whine fest is a pain. This thread is about days 4 and 5 of camp. If posters want to write about Butler, why don't you put up something about the Titans camp?

How about this?

Hicks initially signed with the Bears in 2016 for 2 years, $10M total (and reunited with the GM who drafted him for the Saints). After one year, in 2017, the Bears gave him a 4-year extension that now pays him $10M per year.

Well, it's becoming Latin America.

As of 2016, Americans of Hispanic/Latino ethnicity comprised an estimated 17.8% of the U.S. population (up from 16.3% in the 2000 census). That includes the 3.34M population of Puerto Rico.

The ethnic designation "Hispanic/Latino" crosses all racial designations. IOW, there are "black Hispanic/Latinos" included in the 12.6% "Black/African American" census category, and there are "white Hispanic/Latinos" included in the 72.4% "White" category.

BTW - In the next census (2020), people of Middle Eastern, North African and Arab ethnicity ("MENA") will have a separate ethnic designation. Up to this point, they've been included in the "White" category.

Melting pot.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, Kenneth, but Belichick started the season against KC with the same exact big nickel scheme. Even after watching it fail miserably against their RPO attack, he went back to it in the biggest game of the year, so he must have felt that there was a good reason to go back to it.

I think he was concerned with their ability to run the ball down NE’s throats, which they ended up doing in both games, anyway.

The "good reason", given the state of the LB corps, was that it was pretty much all they had.

Branch had chronic issues with maintaining his conditioning level for most of his pre-Patriots career. He simply wasn't able to get it back last season at age 32.

Naw, it is the new, kinder, gentler BB for 2018.

I don’t recall anyone ever dropping that punt in TC. Matt Light and Vollmer caught the ball.

Correct.

Brown was worn down last year. As you point out they won a SB and went to another one without Hicks. Additionally he didn't want to play here. Are you going to pay Hicks $10m AAV? Who do you cut?

All the lamenting is a waste.

Brown was often forced into a situation that he simply wasn’t built to do well. He’s not a 0 or 1-tech. He’s ideally a 2-tech. I’m expecting him to slide more into that role this year with Shelton and Valentine’s return and have a good season in a contract year.
