I’d call that money poorly spent.

Agreed, although the example of 7m could still prove to be a bargain if either Shelton or Brown happens to have a decent 2018 season.

Of course, the rub is that we won’t know until they actually do it, and then the price will likely increase to a point where it no longer makes sense to consider them as value players.
