For 3 years my best friend at work was a Polish dude. I would try to insult him using google translate and I called him pantofelki which I thought meant something else but he said, iirc, meant Potato Slippers. We called each other pantofelki for forever after that.

I don't even know the teams or players but I watched more soccer this cup than years past.

I'm trying to be a fan at least.

I started in 2002. And that was a pretty good tournament. Best I've seen so far. But recently that I've watched, its been Eurpoean, European, European, etc and so on. Time for an underdog to take the world by storm! Ya know? A true Cinderella story, the likes of which we haven't even seen in the NCAA march madness tournament. Because its always the same ones every time. Kind of like the NFL now that I think of it, but less competitive. This might as well be another Euro tournament with some additions otherwise.

Are you putting money down? I don't know how betting on soccer would even work, is it all moneyline?

Nah I've just been making personal picks on this website. I'm not even sure how betting works on any sport to be honest. I've never partaken...

We will see Germany vs Brazil most likely in the round of 16. That sucks. I just don’t see mexico losing out Sweden.

I didn't watch a single match today and I didn't miss out on anything. Is this WC even worth watching at this point? FIFA clearly wants to promote as many European teams as possible and have a 4th straight European champion. Nobody else is really winning anything.

Huh based on what? With the exception of Mexico all these teams outside of Europe have been garbage.

Eh blah blah blah this tournament is the same every year. I'm rooting for Mexico to take it all the way but I have a feeling they're not gonna make it either. They're from CONCACAF after all. Not good for ratings. It will probably be Croatia or Portugal or something like that. Watched 2 matches in the last few days, and honestly looking back there was 0 reason to have seen any of the ones I didn't see. Really only have 1 match to watch per day, and that's Mexico. That likely won't last long the way this is going. This has to be the least competitive sporting event in the world
