Marsh describes Pats as "no fun"

A homer is someone who can’t look at their team objectively.

Damn, I guess those criticizing Belichick for how much they have sucked the past 18 years were right.

My bad, I thought they were great. Belichick f.cking sucks, I should have realized it long ago. You guys are awesome, seeing the suck through all the success takes special talent.

That's the baffling thing. It's not like the Patriots had someone with an established history of getting to the QB, like Dwight Freeney, on the roster last year and kept dropping him into coverage.

A few months ago the NFL network was replaying the best games of the 2017. One of those games was the week 15 Patriots vs Steelers game.

I watched the replay of the game with one of my oldest and best friends- an otherwise intelligent and good guy except he’s a lifelong Steelers fan. We both agree Mike Tomlin is an overrated coach and we decided to watch the game with an eye on when Tomlin was out coached by Belichick. We especially wanted to see why it looked like no one was covering Gronk late in that game.

The funny thing is Tomlin was getting the best of Belichick for most of the game as Pittsburgh had a good game plan to win time of possession keeping the ball out of Brady’s hands as much as possible. That strategy worked in good part because the Steelers owned the Pats D on 3rd down. They kept completing short passes to Leveon Bell to move the sticks. On 3 or 4 of those conversions, the Patriot defender who had Bell in man coverage was Tre Flowers.

It’s nice to be versatile on defense; it’s better to actually be good on defense. Prayers are chanted to the genius of Bill Belichick by some on this board, but having Tre Flowers covering Leveon Bell rather than rushing the passer is more dementia than genius.

Btw, Gronk was so open on those drives because the Steelers lost their nerve and decided to play zone and not the man to man they had played with some success for most of the game. Although the Steelers did their best to disguise it, Brady and Gronk read the zone and Gronk just ran to the weak spots in the zone and Brady delivered the ball to him time after time. Of course, one of those catches displayed the incredible athleticism of a 6’7” guy who while running away from the pass was able to reach down across his body and catch the ball ankle high.

But, those guys are just spoiled ingrates now according to many posters on the board. It’s all about the genius of the hoodie they say. No one should question his ways they say. Let us build a shrine to him outside 1 Patriot Way and watch the great hoodie coach into his dotage young men who are his grandchildren ‘s age just like they did for Joe Paterno and Woody Hayes back in the day.

Looks like the pats need to include in players 'contract a happiness clause. Need to make sure players are "happy" and their stay in New England is "a fun and enjoyable vacation".
oh you forgot two clauses, be appreciated and free to do what you want like in Cincy..

Amen. It also makes the Emperor's out-right refusal to acquire LBs who can cover RBs/TEs even more infuriating, because it then forces natural DEs like Flowers to attempt to cover them, with the expected result.

This was the Pats biggest weakness in 2017 and almost cost them the AFC Championship. Had they been able to cover a RB in the Super Bowl, they'd be hoisting title #6. They need to fix this next season.

I agree with you, putting your best pass rusher in coverage is beyond stupid. Dropping Flowers into coverage is not cute, it's dumb and you're giving the offense a free pass to throw the football. In fact, thinking Trey Flowers can run step for step with Bell is an insult and as Junior Seau used to say when teams would run the football on him "Disrepectful".

Rather Flowers more so than Jordan Richards in any coverage.

Well, it's been a lot of fun watching them over the years.

I wonder if those fans who make about $40K/year collecting garbage think their job is "fun." How about the that liquor store own cleaning up the bathroom after one of his alcoholic customers sh*t all over the floor?

Let me explain that incident. I was on prescription grade laxatives and missed my target. Had nothing to do with the alcohol. Just a coincidence.. I apologized.

His race and politics are irrelevant except when you think about how coincidentally similar they are to Chris Long, who left for a similar reason. Just pointing out the long string of coincidences. They definitely don't mean anything.

Thanks for being rude though.

I understood what you meant but I still suspect there was a hidden agenda.

There is no doubt now...Belichick IS THE greatest coach of my lifetime. Coaching isn’t just in-game moves. It’s the quality of your coaching staff, how well your team executes a game plan or how players maintain focus week after week. It’s also how well backups are prepared to play and the attitude of each player top to bottom.

I think the record we’ve seen over Bill’s tenure speaks for itself. And then we have the other GOAT and the rest is history

I find it odd that people take an all-or-nothing approach. Belichick is indeed the GOAT, but even GOATs **** up sometimes. It's no reason to **** all over the entirety of his life's work.

At least I know which fans are full of it when they start singing praises while the Pats are 10-2 and gunning for home field advantage yet again.

Well he's right about one thing. The Super Bowl was not very fun...

I don't know if Butler makes a difference in that game people forget his second half of the season melt down and now he seemed out of position on so many third down plays.
I know I sound crazy but I think Jonathan Jones would of been the difference maker staying with Agholar.
That being said I hope the love affair of Richards came and went with Patricia.
I feel like any practice squad DB we could of activated would of played Better than him in that game.
Maybe Richards will do TB12 be more pliable and prove us all wrong.

Brady makes dumb plays now & then but no matter what he’s my QB. I look at B.B. the same way

2007 That draft was flat out pathetic but their trades were an A+. Despite all the talent they had on offense, Maroney was extremely disappointing as a 2nd year player and should've easily had a more productive season which could've helped take the pressure off of Brady during the Super Bowl. It's hard to fault the defense during that game as they held the Giants down as long as they could but they were just out coached as McDaniels admitted during a documentary on ESPN. That Super Bowl loss is tough to let go.

Maroney carried the ball 25 times for 122 yards in the AFC Championship game against the Chargers. It wasn't the only excellent game he had that year, when healthy.

I agree that Jonny Jones would have had a more positive than negative impact on the outcome
of the game. If he were available, then sure Billy could've used him for the same assignments that Butler would've normally been given; he probably would've held his own, but Jones simply isn't the playmaker that Butler is.
However, because he wasn't available, there was no feckin way that the Emperor should've sat Butler for the entire damned game...none.

I also agree about Glitch Richards, completely.
