Why not? He’d make a nice reserve TE.
 
Surely he'd want to finish with a contender. Hopefully there's mutual interest and he's willing to sign for something reasonable.
 
Because Alex Guerrero would give Gates the same speech the trainer gave Rocky in Rocky Balboa.
 
Isn’t he 63 years old. I bet he runs about 5.5 forty now.
We’ve not been averse to brining in some VERY old veterans. Plus speed isn’t as important for a TE. Would be more of a short yardage, red zone threat at this point

No space on the roster for him realistically unless you want to get rid of the only young, developmental guy in Hollister.
