I agree with @Rdforty2

I could see them trading away Mason now. There is no reason for Wynn to sit. If the plan is for Brown/Cannon to be the starting tackles (maybe Garcia) then you have Thuney/Mason/Andrews/Wynn on the interior. 4 legit starters.

If you move Mason now you can get a high 3rd for him I think. If they keep him this year and let him walk maybe they get a comp 4th but more likely a comp 5th.

Now if Wynn is your long term solution at LT and Brown was just to have a quality back up it makes all the sense in the world to keep Mason this year. Bottom line is if for any reason Wynn isn't on the field this year then someone screwed up. You don't sit the 23rd overall pick unless it is a QB.

Mason is only costing them 2m this year, is worth much more than that, and I doubt they'd get much more for him in a trade than if they just waited and picked up a 2020 3rd-round comp pick.

I'm still hoping they extend him. Really like his attitude out there.

I think they were looking to upgrade Andrews here.

I see the Wynn pick as a replacement for Mason next season. People here are seeing him as a tackle. That's ludicrous. Why acquire brown?

I know it's so worong of me to keep rating your posts as funny, but I can't help it. I just think abject panic is hilarious.

“Brown graded out as Pro Football Focus’ No. 21 ranked tackle in the NFL last season. He also scored as one of the ten best pass blocking tackles in the league, but the Niners were looking for a tackle who performs better against the run.”

49ers Trade OT Trent Brown To Patriots

When healthy, Brown is one of the best pass-blocking Tackles in the entire league. Gave Von Miller fits the last couple times they played; as per Von Miller himself.

We know Brown can play RT and play it at a high level, but I'm curious if he has ever played LT. I apologize if this has already been asked.
Yes, although that was at Georgia Military College in 2011 and 2012. He played guard and right tackle at Florida.

Apologizes if this is a re post but wow

One year of Mason for $2M + 4th/5th 2019 > 3rd round 2018 pick.

Don’t like giving up a 3rd, who needs a 5th back. Or get a 4th back with him. Shoulda just given up a 6 straight up. Not thrilled with this deal. SF gives up on the guy because he can’t keep in shape. So they were gonna dump him anyway.

How long before he actually practices in training camp because he can’t pass the conditioning tests.

That being said, Von Miller seems to think this guy might be the best RT in football. So there’s that.

“He’s the best right tackle in the National Football League,” Miller said Wednesday after the first of two joint practices with the 49ers. “And he may even be a top-five tackle, period, in the National Football League. There’s not another tackle who’s that tall, that big and can move the way he moves.”

Rookie GM Lynch owning BB again first Jimmy G now a Third Rounder for a fat Blob. BB blows in Third Round anyway so cant blame him for trading out. I getting the feeling they are not happy with the Garcia selection last year oh boy.

Fast forward 5 years from now the people *****ing about Wynn are going to be *****ing that we aren't paying him to stay.
Reminds me of Logan Mankins, I remember being so pissed off we “wasted” a 1st round pick on a player rated to be a 3rd round pick, 8 years later and 7 Pro Bowls later, I hated to see him go.

If Cannon brown and Garcia and waddle are capable of handling the OT position this may be an indication thuney’s job is in jeopardy.

There either is a plan for all these moves or both of these players were considered excellent value and we are throwing a load of talent together and working out the details later.
