Mayfield, his antics aside, would be the only QB i’d trade up for. You have to leap frog over the Jets though and trade with the Giants.
But...but both Teams need QB's.

If we are going by that logic and we have a QB who should play atleast Two more years why mortgage to get to the top?? The guy or guys we draft are going to sit for at least two years... I can't see the GOAT playing beyond that.

I expect the Broncos to take Chubb if he falls to them. The Jete may not grab a QB in that spot depending on how they feel about Bridgewater. If they do, I certainly hope it's not Mayfield. I would much rather it be Rosen or Allen.
Because, after the guy at the top, what you have left are guys like Jackson (one read and go), Lauletta (weak arm), Woodside (one read and go, elongated throwing motion), and others that have either big flaws or multiple flaws in their game. And, assuming that all of them outside of Jackson are drafted outside the first round, none of them come with the 5th year option.
Plus there is a lot of competition which makes it worse.I know, they have to write something. In reality, they know about what we know. I trust certain guys... Curran is probably at the top of that short list. Zo has access, but I think he's 100% in on holding the corporate line.
We are all likely to be as qualified as any of those guys, when it comes to speculating what the team will do. The era of good reporting is gone. Hot Takes and garnering clicks, that's all they want now.
Jackson is going to be a bust. He is not an bfl starting caliber QB. He could develop but has a very long way to go.I think Rosen would be the best pick for the Pat’s offense, but I don’t think the Pats would trade up to get him. Jackson is interesting because supposedly Louisville’s offense has a lot of similarities to the Pat’s. Lauletta has a very quick release but pepeople here think he has a noodle arm. Mike White has a good arm and a quick release and good size, he may be the guy the Pats select.

The rest is a crapshoot and honestly it’s more about their attitude and mentality and intellect (which needs to be multiple levels higher in the nfl than the ncaa) than their arm.
And then coaching.
That’s why so many qbs come out every year as can’t miss prospects and end up as geno smith, Blaine gabbard, Jake locker, rg111, manziel, Blake bottles, etc etc etc
Everyone of those guys had the physical skills to be hall of faners if they had what was needed above the neck.
More busts than successes.I agree with your listing of QB draft failures. On the other hand, a large proportion of NFL franchise QB's and starters have come out of the first 2 rounds.
And that was a small, partial list off the cuff. There are many more.I agree with your listing of QB draft failures. On the other hand, a large proportion of NFL franchise QB's and starters have come out of the first 2 rounds.
Could those guys have become winners under belichick? Maybe but that creates the argument that we aren’t looking for what everyone else is (brains and mechanics and leadership over arm) and a high pick may be no more valuable to us.
If you take any article about who a team is going to draft seriously, and the team involved is not the Browns at #1, you're crazy. Based upon the combination of written/spoken reports/speculations, we already know that the Patriots are going to:
Trade to the top of the draft to grab one of the top 4 QBs
Trade up a little to grab a 2nd tier QB
Stay pat and draft a QB either at the bottom of round one or in a later round
Not draft a QB at all
This is where I trust Belichick to find "the guy". It's so much about what's between the ears. I just know that I wouldn't want to be the "next guy". The scrutiny by the fans and the media (clowns ) is going to be like nothing we've seen. It's going to take a special kind of guy to handle the pressure.

A lot of mediocrity too.
I don’t know what a “franchise qb” really is but the list of guys who’s teams have won because of them arevery limited.
To me guys like Philip Rivers or Kirk cousins or Matt Ryan or Carson Palmer who put up pretty numbers but don’t win aren’t guys I would consider a successful pick, nor are guys like Eli who’s team wins when it dies largely in spite of him.
