Lets talk OT via the draft

Doesn’t overly bother me. Joe Thomas had shorter arms. He got by on talent and I think Williams has more talent than O’Neill or Miller. Long arms are the ideal but I’d still draft the more talented guy. And fwiw, Williams’ arms are about the same length as Antonio Garcia, who, presumably was drafted as a future LT.
Another reason I wanted no part of Boney Tony.

Have to wonder if Williams also had a more serious lower body injury than anything that was reported.

Brandon Parker was my favorite Day 3 LT developmental pick, until Bill ****ed up everything by not re-signing Solder. Now LT is By Far our #1 draft need and Must be addressed by #43 at the Very Latest. That means that there will likely not be enough picks remaining to draft 2 LTs, especially when our needs for at least one pick at other positions are considered.

Hey Stonebrain. Solder was offered the same money and decided to move so that his wife could be closer to her family. But yeah. That's Belichick's fault. You are truly a putz..

What about Will Richardson out of NC State late in the draft? Could be a darkhorse.. Guy didn't give up a sack or pressure in 11 games this year.

All depends on the off field. If he's kicked his habits, and the coaches clear him, he has some real potential. Not my first choice, but that's more off field than on field. Tape is solid.

...Stonebrain?

Had a great game against Clemson and shut out “the duke” from wake forest.

Draftniks say he is not the most athletic, but he got the job done in college.

Miller in play now at 23?

Could be. Depends on how we grade him vs the market. I'd rather go for a developmental player, but we need a tackle. If he can be a solid starting LT, then yes. Right now, I think Waddle will start the season, and they'll try to develop Garcia, Tobin, and Croston.

The guy I’m fascinated by is Alex Cappa from Humboldt St. He does have small arms at 32 5/8” and hands at 9 1/4” but he had a strong senior bowl proving he belongs with the big boys. I’ve seen him going any where from the 3rd to the 5th round.

I think Evans at 23. Then, we go edge, T, CB. I’d love to get some skill guys on offense afterwards. QB/WR/TE/RB

Absolutely Evans at 23! This guy is Hightower 2.0! Born to play in our defense, already knows some of the terminology! Versatile, smart. Good tackler, ok in pass coverage and offers a little something as a pass rusher!

This is the missing linebacker piece!

Ps: Warner of BYU has some good tape, and would not be s bad consolation prize.

I'd say LVE is more Hightower from just looking at them but i'd love Evans here!

@reamer has been in love with him for a while!

One guy who i'm thinking of as a tackle is Orlando Brown, with a third round pick if we really wanted to go pure Defence with our first four picks or three on D and one on the O...

Lots to think about!

Orlando Brown, in the 3rd round? No feckin way. He reminds me of Vadal Alexander, and he wasn't drafted until the middle of the 7th! round.

In terms of testing, yes. Brown's tape is pretty good though. He didn't allow a sack, and he buried people in the run game. If we acquire a 5th, then he's worth the gamble. He needs structure and coaching, and he would get that here.

The question is whether or not Brown would have the athleticism to pull. The jury is out on that. As a straight up run blocker, though, there is no doubting his power.
