OT: Rick Nash to Bruins for 1st rounder, Lindgren, Spooner and Belesky

And as a fitting end to the annual ass-raping that Sweeney has received this trade deadline, he trades yet another draft pick, a 2019 5th-rounder, for soon-to-be 30-year-old RW Tommy Wingels, who - based upon his scoring a whopping 21 goals in his last 198 games played - should concentrate less on his marching and more on his actual game performance. I'm not sure if he's any better than Acciari, Jordan Szwarz or Austin Czarnik right now.

Kucherov is the best player in the world. Good luck.

Hockey is unique among the big 4. I watched a then relatively unknown goalie steal a Cup from a team comprised of some of the greatest players in the world including arguably the GOAT in '71. The fact that it happened to a team that talented tells me it can happen to any team. And no I am not comparing any goalie in these playoffs to Dryden but none of these teams is the '71 Bruins either.

McDonagh isn't going to solve all of Tampa's issues on the blue line. Rask can steal a series, and the Bruins can match lines to keep Bergeron and Marchand out there with Stamkos and Kucherov. I think the Bruins would rather see the Lightning than the Leafs, who can skate four lines deep even if they lack the absurd punch of that top Tampa line.

I really don't think the Rangers got a great return for McDonagh - a second liner at best, two marginal prospects, a 1st, and then had to send a player that isn't appreciably worse than Namestnikov back. The return was only marginally better than what they got for Nash.

Don't understand the Wingels trade. A 5th or 4th round pick is basically a lottery ticket so it doesn't mean a whole lot, but they just signed Gionta to be the 13th forward and I don't know why Wingels would play much over Czarnik or Acciari. They basically rented a guy to sit in the press box the day after they signed a guy to sit in the press box.

Agree about Pasternak, but respectfully disagree about Carlo...but agree again regarding the rest of the post.

I had misread this as being for McDonagh and not Karlsson. I wouldn't trade Carlo as part of a package for McDonagh (perhaps straight up, but unlikely either side would want that) but would have included him in a package for Karlsson. Still wouldn't have offered Pasta though.

A hot goalie can be an equalizer - no doubt.

And so can a bad bounce or hitting the posts a few times. The best hockey I have ever watched was the Tampa Bay vs Chicago Finals a few years ago. They were never separated by more than a goal until the last period of the last game. And as deserving as Chicago was that series could very easily have gone the other way. I’m not underestimating the lightning one bit, that’s a really good team, and the race for home ice is going to really matter, but this is a really strong Bruins team that appears to have a lot of heart as a team. If Rask plays well then it will be a great series.

In the meantime the Penguins just got even stronger, and they are one Cup from dynasty status. It should be a wild playoff run this year.

Sucks but if he heals in 4-6 weeks, he should be back for playoffs. Time for lines 2-4 to step it up.

Yeah, Pasternak is Untouchable, whereas I would've very much included Carlo (or Grzelcyk) in a package for either Karlsson (first choice) or McDonagh. Not a big fan of Carlo (or Grzelcyk), and he's certainly not at Doug Hamilton's level.

sounds like 2 weeks? not too bad

2 weeks for a fracture is not bad at all.

To get technical, the article mentions him being re-evaluated in two weeks, not back playing in two weeks. A lot will probably depend on how he's progressing at that point.

Bergeron is a tough SOB though. This won't be a pain threshold thing. The instant he is cleared he'll be on the ice for sure.

lol I'm sure the senators would jump all over that deal lmao. grzelcyk Carlo for Karlsson? absolutely ridiculous.

he's not gonna be back in two weeks. they are going to evaluate him in two weeks.

right, but it sounds like since they are even doing that without a “out 4-6 weeks” type of thing, that is bodes well for him possibly maybe being back in 3 weeks to play after practicing on it. maybe not, but this info tied to him playing on a break, leads one to believe be may have dodged a bullet here. just my take

Holy cow! Did someone actually claim that Pastrnak is untouchable?
