I’m glad he is showing exactly who he is. Arbitrarily doing this looks bad

What makes you think there is anything arbitrary about it? Fraudger isn't going up against an owner without other at least some other owners being on board.

He could do that to any team. I don’t mind the cowboys getting whack a moled

Do you really believe he ever whacks a team/owner without some other owners (ie Mara, Rooney) input? Players sure, but an owner?

Should he get a medal for egging him on in punishing Brady?
No.

You have an issue with Jerry Jones? Have at it man. Stick it to him.

Personally, in this instance, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I think he deserves a medal for trying to mess with Goodell getting an extension. You don't?

Seriously? Put aside your hardon for Fraudger and think about it for a minute. The CBA does not apply to owners, it exists between the NFLPA and the league. It governs the relationship between the league and the players. The owners are subject to the league's constitution and bylaws.

Commissioner doesn’t have the authority to impose a fine in excess of $500,000

Yes. I am dead serious because i’d never heard rozelle or tagliabue use the words “article forty six” before.

THis has nothing to do with a “hard on” for goodell. It has to do with how he has gone off the reservation with regards to his power compared to previous commissioners, now claiming under oath, behind lawyers that he has the power to do absolutely whatever he wants when he wants, in any capacity.

Put it this way, if pete rozelle wanted to force al davis to sell the raiders in 1982 with all owners agreeing to bounce him, if goodell was tagliabue, apparently citing article 46 would be the only thing he’d need to use it to “protect the integrity” of the league, and davis would have been forced to sell with goodell using “article 46” as his reason.

Article 46 had been in the constitution and bylaws since 1969. The difference is, rozelle and tagliabue never used it in such corrupt fashion nor did we ever hear it publicly referenced before.

The cba absolutely applies to both owners and the union. It is a party deal, hence why it is called a “collective” bargaining agreement.

SO, just because something is “stated” in a thread does not mean it is accurate.

I agree. I can’t stand the guy, but i applaud any owner taking him on.

At first I thought this was just a much weaker version of what we dealt with and it was funny. Now I can see Goodell is having another power trip and I can't condone that. He's literally punishing a team for undermining him.

That is not what he is saying. He is talking about anything that goodell does comes off as aribitrary and that it looks bad, which is obviously correct.

If you were to describe characteristics of a bad leader, goodell has the market cornered on all of them.

Just because goodell gets owners backing and support to execute his corrupt ways, doesn’t mean it’s not a rubber stamped, arbitrary move.

It always appears arbitrary because he gets what he wants based on the results he wants, which is comical because he is so concerned about image, which makes all of this doubly ironic.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. Goodell is a total dbag but nothing Fraudger does is arbitrary, it just looks that way. Rozelle & Tagliabue were as much their own men as anyone can be in their position. Goodell always has at least a few owners hands pulling his strings.

Calling it a "reimbursement" will be problematic for Goodell. Jones will have the right to ask for an accounting of what he is reimbursing the league ( which he wouldn't for a fine). You know Jones will have his accountants go through it with a fine tooth comb and may find some interesting billing practices. Goodell may be opening a Pandora's box that the law firm doesn't want to see the light of day.

This is your response? You essentially repeated what i said and then tried to backpedal with such a generic statement.

Where is your source about article 46 only applying to decisions towards players?

The difference now is the level of greed and money abailable to be made by expanding this sport internationally. That’s the difference. It’s more eyeballs on screens with more fantasy football leagues in more countries. THey will do anything to make sure this happens, including not watching their league have the boat rocked, or going after a team and/or player like brady, to slow the pats down to try get parity again, to prove a team in london for example can gain momentum and help expand the league.

THe nfl has never lost money in its history until the last 2 years. Sure, it is
More or less a drop in the big picture bucket, but it is still true.

Jerry jones represents a fly in the ointment to the greed push and nice and quiet solidarity the owners need to regain footing, be unified into the new cba, and hope to yet again come away with a very favorable cba. Any leverage lost with internal bickering and ratings drops, is a win for the union.

But, he stil has article 46 as his ace in the hole. Even if what you say is absolutely correct, goodell had 2 federal judges likely paid off to state that he is above US law, and can do whatever he wants to rule how he wants.

It is sort of like a private golf club. They can not allow any women or minorities in if they so choose to discriminate.

Any owner stupid enough to let this happen deserves the precedent it sets.

Article 46 is the CBA for the players only. Owners are bound by the NFL constitution...
