Our Front 6 in a 4-2-5 wasn't very good Sunday. But, we do have some youth and talent there. Plus, Valentine, Rivers and Hightower coming back. I've seen a lot of us(self-included) speculate a slight trade up for Vea - DT if he falls into 20's.

Would it be better to trade up for James if he falls to 20? I've seen him rated from a Top 10 pick into the mid-20's. He'd certainly help against those bunch formations and pic plays. Guessing he could cover most te's in this league one on one.

On those shallow crosses that turn intoo pic plays. We've got to play them more agressive. I've seen Hightower just level crossers in front of him if less than 5 yards. Hightower and James would really help against that type of offense IMO.

I can't see James falling out of the top 10. I'd prefer Kyzir White at 63. Not the same level of player, but still better than Jordan Richards any day.

Agree with @reamer, unreal player but i cannot even see him going past 15 at a push. He's a better version of Kam Chancellor...

Will easily go top 10 if not top 5

James is one of the blue chip players in this draft. He has size, speed, courage, fundamentals, smarts and a great communicator.

Yes, he would be perfect in our defense, but he should go in the top 15.

Gonna be a great pro...just not in NE

I think he's going to be one of the best safeties in the NFL a couple of years into his pro career if his health holds. He's one of my favorite overall players in this draft. But he's going to be long gone by the time we pick.

White, Bates, Whitehead at 63 would be great. I have a feeling most haven't seen much, if at all Bates or Whitehead, both are very good. All young.

Btw OP I think you'd have to trade into top 10-15 for James. Don't think he gets past there.

I started this thread before we acquired pick 23 for Cooks. I'd have certainly given up something like 23 and 43 to move up to 15 for Derwin James and a 4th or 5th.

SMH. We all knew he was a savage. He’s a complete stud. A true impact player.

As long as we are drafting at the draft end of round 1 every year , we will never get a shot at though type athletes.

W/out a doubt.

We could have traded up for James & got Landry at the end of the first.

Guice was still on the board as well. I know he was injured but who knows what happens here although we definitely haven't had any luck in that department lately.

Once we got the 23rd pick, he fell into range to move up. C’est la vie
