JOSH IS STAYING!!

McDaniels was never brought up in discussions in the media (not that I heard at least) as Belihick's heir....
We’ve talked about it here on a weekly basis for the past few years. All the time. There was a lot of the same speculation when he’s turned down past HC gigs in previous seasons.

Curious to how Caserio is reading these tea leaves....

I dont understand why people think BB would resign as coach and stay as GM. Exactly why would he do that ? It is not like he would suddenly have shorter working hours or be less involved ? He loves football.. if anything he will quit completely..

Oh my god. Kraft, I was wrong!

Your the greatest owner in the history of team sports

You keep saying this but how do you know? McDaniels has a much better track record as a coordinator with offences that are best in the league. Last night was a good example

Don't confuse coaching an offense lead by the GOAT to just 'any' offense. Because if take McDaniels and put him in another offense (already happened), and nothing worth writing home about, will come out out of it. Let's just say that Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Cooks, Dola, and the 3 amigos in the backfield, make him look better than he really is. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he's staying as an OC, but I would be pretty upset to learn if he turned to be the next HC. Because at the end of the day, beinga good OC does NOT = being a good HC. And he's NOT a good HC.

I have not read past the first page. Should I be happy?? I’m confused..is Bill leaving?? Really don’t know how to feel about this..

so basically its just hot air and wishful thinking on their parts... No one who actually knows anything.... just talking head conjecture.

Wonder of this helps the Pats keep Joe Judge as well.

What are you talking about ? The Colts confirmed it all in a press release and cancelled tmws press conference.

The news that Judge will also stay with the Pats also has been out for at least 30 minutes.

Because it wouldn't. In McDaniels' case, his past HC gigs actualy hurt him more than help him. He is a great OC (though I'm not sure how much of that is actually due to working with the GOAT), but a sub-par HC. Denver's tenure startted great at 5-0, and then went all downhill from there. Rams? LOL... not even worth a discussion. Kraft would never hand McDaniels the keys to this team - at least not if Patricia is the alternative. I'm sorry, but not happening. Kraft knows he's a great OC and has good working relationship and chemistry with Brady, but that's where it starts, and that's where it ends. Patricia on the other hand, was groomed more closely under Belichick, and has always been touted as this 'rocket scientist genius' who will one day have the potential to take over after Belichick leaves.

Curious....where was the 'rocket science genius' Sunday night?

Unless Brady pushed his second father really hard for McDaniels to be the next HC of the NEP.

Highly doubt it. I can see Brady pushing Kraft to get rid of Grops. I can see Brady talking to Josh directly and presuading him to stay. I CANNOT see Brady getting involved in who's going to be the head coach, especailly during a time he may not be even quarterbacking anymore.

Colts board definitely thinking multiple draft picks:

McDaniels rejects Colts.

from board>>>
I doubt there was an actual contract that was signed.

But what I think WAS signed is what is called a "Letter or understanding."

Sort of a simplified contract. BUT.... I think he can have the effect of a contract.

So, I think the Colts are clearly entitled to HUGE compensation.

We got screwed. We are clearly a damaged party. We deserve compensation.

In the NFL, over this type of issue, that means DRAFT PICKS! And I'd say multiple.
Morons....

An LOI or a MOU is not a legal document.

I don't know. To me it seems that Patricia was always touted as the more viable option to replace Belichick one day.

I mean they are sitting and talking right now apparently..

Hmmmm.

I'm certain its similar to 100 other ones they've had.

Topic: The Next One.( SB or HC?)

Really hope there's massive turnover. I've hatted this defense all year and watching that Superbowl performance wasn' vindication it was embarrssment.

We need 5 more guys
They led the league in points allowed from the month of October through the end of the season.

Why would you expect massive changes? I don’t see it any different than any other year. Actually, we probably have much less concern due to FAs, etc. They need to add a decent player on all three lines of the defense and get HT, Valentine back.

I disagree. As I stated above in a reply to another post, Patricia is the DC, not the GM. The defense playing garbage in the SB, was primarily a result of Butler not being in the game (Belichick's decision), which shifted the whole defensive scheme and game plan around that situation. Unfrotunately for Patricia, he is forced to coach whatever the front office deals him.

You're pretty far down this rabbit hole I take it.

Far enough down it that you're sure about the details of the MB deal, and you're sure that his absence is responsible for the entirety of the 41 points the defense gave up.

He was touted throughout the year as a possible Belichick heir. This Sunday, you cannot say Matt Patricia burnished his resume. You can only say you have a hypothetical excuse for the performance of the defense.

On the other hand, you can say without doubt that the offense is continuing to play very well.

Understand we're talking about coordinators, and in BB's case, the coach. It won't do much good to say "yeah but the offense has Tom Brady." They can't very well judge coordinators independent of their performance on their side of the ball.

Props to Matt P. on his body of work, and good luck to him in Detroit. I'm not talking him down. Just letting you know, coordinators are going to be judged on their performance, not any excuses we come up with for them... and SBs are disproportionately weighed vs. regular season work.

Curious....where was the 'rocket science genius' Sunday night?

On the field, scrambling to come up with a scheme after he was told by Belichick he can forget about Butler. You have an issue with the defensive performance? Blame Belichick for holding Butler out. Patricial didn't 5hit the game away. I hold Patricia as ZERO accountable for the debacle on Sunday night. Can't blame the DC, when the HC tells him he'll need to formulate a new game plan without his #2 cornerback.

Like I said before we will send them players with an approximate value of draft picks.

TWo second round picks (Richards, Cyrus) and because we are being generous we throw in another 6th round pick (Roberts) for free. Enjoy your compensation..
