Pats/Jags Game Plan, Breakdown ...

I read somewhere that the jags deploy bouye on TE's, did it vs graham this yr too.

He does. Whether hes does this Sunday, I'm not sure. Personally I'd look to put Jack & a S on Gronk and have my 2 shutdown corners cover Cooks & Hogan etc.

He has had some success though. He did a nice job on Kelce last year I believe. He's covered Gronk, Bennett, Kelce etc before.

Personally I'm exploring Jack & a S on Gronk. That's why you draft Jack in the first place imo.

I'm sure Jax has 2-3 plans of coverage for Gronk. That said Gronk is as healthy as he's been in years and still a monster. He has to be hungry after last year too.

If Burkhead is healthy enough, we could see a fair amount of

Gronk/Allen/Cooks/Hogan/Lewis
Gronk/Devlin/Cooks/Hogan/Lewis
Gronk/Devlin/Cooks/Hogan/White
Gronk/Burkhead/Cooks/Hogan/Lewis
Gronk/Burkhead/Cooks/Hogan/White

Those should lead to a Patriots advantage against the LBs. I'd love to see

Gronk/Allen/Hogan/Lewis/White

but I'm not sure McDaniels is going to go with that, given that I haven't seen enough of it (in other words, I've wanted to see more of it) during the course of the season.

I wanna see Gronk, Bennett, Cooks, Lewis, Rex next year.

But marrone said they won’t pkay Ramsey on Gronk.
I hope they do.

Then they have to double team him, or mix and match with a corner and SS, which is what I would do.

Indeed.

Which leads us to the question "How many times has Ramsey played a tight end like Gronk?".

Since there is only one Gronk, I would guess the answer to that would be "none".

But marrone said they won’t pkay Ramsey on Gronk.
I hope they do.

Could be gamesmanship, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They had Bouye covering Graham in the Seattle game.

And after this game it will be "none" (even if he attempts to).

If you put a corner on Gronk who covers cooks, hogan and amendola?

Point is Ramsey saying it is meaningless, as is marrone.
But Bouye would be more likely.
Either way I’m fine because they can’t handle Gronk and then we get a safety on a wr.

Smart money would be...

Cooks -> Bouye
Hogan -> Colvin (with Church/safety help)
Amendola -> Myrick/Patmon (big win for the Pats either way)

Either way, they're putting a corner on Gronk because Jack and Smith haven't shown themselves up to the task. They'll likely be asked to guard the backs out of the backfield, as they have all year. The second the Pats see a corner lined up on Gronk, whether it's Ramsey or Bouye, I expect the Pats to utilize him as an inline TE almost exclusively.

Your playing 6 dbs?

We will run over that like a bulldozer.
Since 218 lb smith and jack play every down, that’s a 3-2-6 with small guys everywhere.

I think I read somewhere else that the Jags essentially don't have a dime package, but their defense is best against 3 receiver personnel groupings. I would expect the Pats to use lots of 12 and 21 personnel.

Bouye or Ramsey on Gronk
Ramsey or Bouye on Cooks
Free safety playing centerfield
Safety on Dola (or 3rd CB if they are in Nickel? That would potentially help the run game)
That would leave a safety or LB to cover RB out of the backfield

I like it.

I hope that’s their plan because we will light that up.

I can see calling Gronk a wr in the spread and taking you chances with a safety on anendika or hogan but even then it won’t work.
