Brady and Belichick are the most amazing men on the planet. For 17 years they have always took blame for failure first and have always been quick to pass the reason for success to others, For 17 years they feigned this without fail because, obviously, it has been a 17 year con job. They are actually petty "it's me! it's all me!" guys?
Again, the Patriots could not afford 2 20 million dollar QBs on the same roster at the same time. So BB would cut Brady and pay 20m to an almost completely unproven even though he looked highly promising (BTW, Jimmy looks extremely promising but he has done almost nothing in the NFL yet) with BB clearly approaching the end of his HC career? (consider the cap ramification: 20 million to keep Jimmy is roughly equal to the cost of Lewis, Burk, Gronk, Jules).
Again, BB answers to no one except when the man who signs the check says "I can't pay all these zeros" or "why are we losing too many games". If BB wanted to trade Brady he would do it. If he wanted to keep both and pay them both 30 million (and have nothing but vet minimums) he would. Say what you want about Kraft but he knows down to his bones that BB does and should call the football shots. And if he messed with that he has lost BB -- the friggin dumbest move Kraft could ever imagine much less do.
Make no mistake, when BB sees TB slipping and feels there is a better option to win this next game and the season overall? He'll do it (hopefully TB retires before that point). See Bledsoe, Drew for that. And if Kraft says "no you won't Bill, I'm calling the shots" then the Patriots dynasty is truly over.
EDIT: (1) keep in mind the switch to Brady over Bledsoe was brought on by Bledsoe being hurt and Brady getting a long audition to confirm he was ready to lead. AND it was a switch to an expensive QB to a VERY inexpensive QB move. Jimmy, likely and for his own very good reason, said "I'm getting paid here, franchised, or paid somewhere else. A switch to Jimmy (trade TB) would have been a switch to an unproven and expensive QB AND take a 22million cap hit in dead money? Fuhgetaboutit.
(2) Anyone actually think BB would trade TB halfway through a season where the offense was humming and the critical historical 6th SB was very clearly in reach? Really?? Jimmy was kept, IMHO, because BB was (A) had a very good and inexpensive backup, (B) hoping to structure something that would see Jimmy agree to get top pay in a year or two (with good reason to think TB might be at the end of the line within 2 years).
(3) BB said it in a presser: (paraphrase) 'in today's NFL you can't keep two expensive QBs'
