Gronk gets 1 game

It was dirty/cheap but its his first offense, I think the fact the guy got hurt sort of plays into it but honestly I see this a fineable first offense. Now the fact the other guy was concussed may have elvated to 1 game. Hard to say if they would reduce to a fine I would have said for sure if the other guys wasnt hurt.

Thinking out loud, is this possible - he appeals, plays vs Miami, then suspension is upheld and he misses Pittsburgh...???? Don't tell me the NFL isn't thinking about doing this if they can...

Better scenario: Appeal drags out 2 weeks, Pitt loses to Ravens this Sunday, The Jags lose to Seattle this Sunday, we beat Miami this Sunday, we beat Pitt the following Sunday, #1 seed locked up with victory over Pitt, drop appeal, Gronk sits out game that has no effect on seeding.

IMHO that'll be a sufficient lesson for Gronk to be taught .

I read somewhere last night that if Gronk gets suspended and then appeals right away, there should be a decision by thursday, very similar to what happened last week to Talib and Crabtree.

The appeal decision is expected to be made by Wednesday after Gronk appeals on Tuesday.

Let it go. This isn't some league wide anti-Patriots conspiracy. He got treated fairly.

I agree, Gronk deserves a game suspension or more. That was a cheap shot against a defenseless player who was just doing what the referees allowed him to do. I get that he was frustrated. He gets mugged on every play, and if he bumps somebody during his route, he gets flagged for OPI. But driving that kid's head into the ground was totally uncalled for.

I like the fact that Gronk has the self-awareness to apologize right after the game. That goes a long, long way with me.

But do not let down your guard. There is a vast conspiracy to get the Patriots and its most effective when "they" successfully brainwash good posters on PatsFans.com to write rational posts that make it seem like there isn't. With all the winning seasons and Super Bowls, of course they're out to get us.

I'm just glad they didn't make it 4 gms. I think talib and Crabtree got their 2 gms down to 1 by appealing

This might be a blessing in disguised. Im sure Gronk is embarrassed and will want to make up for this mistake. He'll be locked in and laser focused for the PITT game.

Would not be shocked if Gronk has a career game against PITT.

True but if he successfully appeals it then he gets no fine? If he does successfully appeal it I expect BB will take some action against him in some way.
If he appeals and loses, he'd likely miss Pitts instead of Miami.

*knocking on big piece of wood*

I'll take Gronk missing a late season game in this manner over how he missed winter games in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Regards,
Chris

Good thing Miami mailed it in...Jacob Hollister time.

That's not how it works. His appeal won't affect his availability vs Pittsburgh whatsoever.
Of course it could. If it's not heard until after Miami and then the suspension is upheld, he misses Pitt.

Because he is quoted as saying it was BS. And he set precedent with Welker doing something not in the best interest of the team.

I expect Gronk to sit for all or part of the game next Monday regardless of the outcome of his appeal.

I think this too. Hopefully Bill chewed him out as well.

In theory, yes. In practice, it will be heard this week.

Chris

But it’s has already been determined it will be heard tomorrow and decided by Wednesday.

NFL already said appeal would be heard and ruled on by Thursday

I read through Runyan's letter of suspension and could find nothing to disagree with. The rules prohibit what Gronk did (two different sections of the rule book), he didn't have to do it, and it had the potential to injure a fellow player. And did, in fact, injure the player, not that Gronk intended that. You can say he was frustrated by all the grabbing and holding that doesn't get called, but it certainly doesn't justify what he did -- if it were to justify anything, it would be to attack the ref! There would be a BIG suspension.

In news unrelated to Gronk but related to Brady, I just read a New York Times article about a Turkish/Iranian guy who was in charge of a billion-dollar scheme to exchange Turkish gold for Iranian oil, or some such thing. The judge in charge: Richard Berman, who heard Brady's appeal, and decided in his favor. Berman had to remove a juror because he was sleeping through the trial.

That's what federal judges do when they're dealing with serious stuff!

Maybe Gronk's suspension will be reduced to a fine, that seems like what happens in many cases, but if not the Pats will just have to find some other way to beat Miami. They've faced much worse problems.

Speaking of Miami mailing it in, Denver is looking like the browns. They were destroyed by the lowly dolphins.

Of course incapable of dealing with winning gase decides to onside kick ahead 33-9 in the 4th.
