Broncos Name Osweiller as Starter

We lost vs Osweiler, and won vs Simien.

I hope Philly makes the Denver HC change his mind, again.

If you recall, the Patriots absolutely kicked the dogshit out of Osweiler in the playoffs last year.

I am very curious if Brock is going to look better in his return to Denver than he did in Houston.

I wonder how much his accuracy issues were mechanical, injury related, confidence related, or from a lack of familiarity with O'Brien offense.

I thought the thread title meant that the Broncos announced they are changing Brock Osweiler's nickname to Starter --- maybe even urging him to legally change his name to Starter Osweiler. The thought just did not enter my mind that the thread title meant the Broncos were actually making him starting QB of their games.
Don't I feel silly...

The Heist doesn't scare me. Without:

- two roughing the kicker calls not called on punts
- Harper's muff
- B.S. OPI call on Gronk
- Uncalled hold on game-winning TD...
…and don't forget the un-called hold by the donkeys' OL against Chandler Jones during a screen pass that directly led to their (only?) TD in the first half.

Just look at other factors and I think it tells you about Osweiler

Look at how good Watson is playing in that same offense and then you have the Browns who decided to pay him $16m to go away. I mean I know the Browns are historically dumb but if they are paying you $16m to go away when the competition was a rookie who keeps getting benched it speaks volumes.

Plus the eagles will smack them around this weekend and denver will face us having lost 4 straight. They’ll be desperate.
I have never understood this thinking. A team is a tougher opponent because they lost 4 straight. I thought losing a lot of games is evidence you suck.
And why are the eagles going to smack them around? Arent they desperate after losing 3 straight?

No. You see, 4 consecutive losses is the key number. After only 3 consecutive losses, a team is still very much beatable. After 4, however, they become the 1972 Dolphins.

I don’t think it’s the number of losses but it’s based upon when they play the patriots. If we were playing them this week 3 would make them desperate.

Yep because apparently getting smacked around at home against a team with PS WRs isn't enough to become desperate nor is being smacked around in 2 straight to division rivals. It's only after being smacked around in 4 straight and playing the Pats does a team dig down into the "desperate" tank.

The Broncos are even worse on the road so they stand no chance in Philly this weekend. Their record is something like 6-6 going back to last year. So yes, they will get smacked around by the best team (so far) in the NFL. Even if the broncos are desperate to win after losing 3 straight games it won’t matter because Philly on the road is not a good matchup for them.

And losing a lot of games does not necessarily mean you suck (it could, but there could be a variety of factors). As Bill would say, every game in this league is difficult. Mentally I think the broncos will give it their all against NE, expecially playing in that stadium. I don’t necessarily think they’ll win, but I don’t think Denver is going to not show up. They’ll get Sanders back, which should be a boost to their anemic offense. In addition, their defense is very good.

Can anyone remind me how many points Denver scored in last year's meeting, in Denver no less, with both DT and Sanders in the game?

They seemed pretty desperate back then, given that they were fighting for a playoff spot.

Did I say Denver was going to suddenly be a great team next week? I said they’d be desperate. Maybe learn to read?

How did their desperation help them in last season's meeting, when they were literally fighting for a playoff spot?

No team ever dorsnt show up (at least until week 17) and every team gives it there all. Being a trigger opponent because they lose a lot is silly.

Last year they were 4-4 on the road and 5-3 at home.

And 2-2 on the road this year, so 6-6 on the road since last year. I was just trying to make the point that they will get mauled this weekend in philly.

They didn’t give up much on defense. Brady was 50% in completions and the team could only muster 16 points. A 16-3 victory is just a two score game.

And they are a .500 team the last 2 years so how is 6-6 much worse?

No you were trying to make the point that losing 4 straight makes them a tough opponnent.

Question: if they beat the Eagles 40-0 does that improve our chances because they won’t be desperate?
