Rowe back, Hoyer #2, coaches speak @bye-practice

Hoyer has won games in this league with less than stellar rosters. Kaepernick sucked once coaches figured him out and their defense fell apart. Hoyer is the better option. Many are better options than Kaepernick. This myth that he’s worth a damn is just that - a myth.

All he was saying was you guys went at that strawman like it just pulled a gun on you.

Obviously the team went with Hoyer but the idea that Hoyer is superior to Kap is pretty silly. Hoyer is a pretty good backup and a mediocre to poor starter, I know he got the hype in Cleveland but he wasn't even that good there. Kapernick is a pro bowl player, great athlete and younger than Hoyer. Hoyer clearly makes more sense in the short term though but your dislike of kapernick isnt because of his on the field ability

Hoyer knows the offense and understands the culture of the organization. It's a no brainier.

Kap is a QB that is innacurate and can't manipulate or read a defense.

As it pertains to the choice, his politics have nothing to do with it.

Ok which will fit in the Patriots system better? What is the value of that? I would say it is pretty high and makes Hoyer the clear choice.

We aren't winning the Super Bowl with either starting in the playoffs. But as a fill in for a half or 1-2 games I'm taking Hoyer every time.

Kaepernick is not a Pro Bowl player.

Am I supposed to take this post seriously? Hopefully this was a joke and I don’t have to waste my time.

Like a shark responding to chummed waters, one mention of him in a less than stellar light gets you triggered.

When I heard of the trade there was no doubt in my mind that Hoyer would become a Patriot, part of the deal was for the 49'ers to release Hoyer so the Pats would not have absorbed his cap hit and he could still receive the 2.9 million guaranteed in 2018...

If they traded for him they would have assumed his SF Salary.. the SF Salary called for up to $9 million a year with incentives, without it was about $6 million...

For the Pats he will make... according to Field Yates..

2017: $476,000

2018: $915,000

2019: $2.85 million ($1.5 million guaranteed) + $200,000 roster bonus

BB exemplifies frugality.

And we're onto the bye.

Well, Kontra, you've been on the Board long enough to realize:
a) Folks expect others to take a lot of nonsense seriously out here. While I was not referring to the specific comment you were answering and was just making a general point, in this case I hadn't read past the first line of the comment because, well, um, I didn't take it seriously.
b) No, they usually aren't joking, and
c) Yes, by definition, being on this or any Forum does entail wasting a lot of time.

Glad I could clear that up.

The evolution of Kaepernick’s talent has been fun to watch as he’s grown from meh to somehow a top tier QB without playing any games during that period.
Within a month or two, he’ll be challenging for GOAT status IMO.

There's a reason why Harbaugh went with the read-option when Kap was the QB in SF. The read-option is just about as simple an offense you can muster in the NFL because it requires the QB to make only one read.

But the NFL always evolves, and always has. Other teams caught up with the read-option and got better at stopping it. Good and smart quarterbacks adjust to this and run a different offense.

Kap didn't. 49ers went 8-8. Simple as that.

Again, this is not to take away from what he's accomplished off the field, but an explanation of why he would not thrive in the Patriots system.
