One thing about Butler - he does not give up on plays. OBJ in the EZ 2 years ago and now this.

He gave up when he tried to make an INT on a play and ended up on the ground watching the guy he was supposed to cover waltz in for a TD.

On the bright side... this is the JETE superbowl.

On the even brighter side, they think they won it

( Poor Dorsett- he gets targeted 3 times, one is an int and he gets interferred with on the other two but doesn't get the flag. Hey buddy, you're not in Indy anymore. You don't get the calls when you're wearing a Pats uniform)........

But...Gronk got a PI call though...

Odd to have a Pats season where we are 6 games in and the only comfortable win was against the Saints. Really wanted to see the offense get a first down late to ice it. Nothing about the offense has seemed in synch this year which is worrisome. Most of their scoring drives seem to require a big play or penalty. Not something you can count on long term. There is obviously a lot that needs to be fixed if this Pats team have serious post season aspirations. All that said, besides the Chiefs (who are struggling mightily at the moment) there do not appear to be any great teams so maybe the season plays out like 2011 (with a better ending)

Think ref is saying exactly what I said above the ball moves a second time with him out of bounds. It went from his left to his right hand whilst out of bounds.

It's called "Losing your star slot receiver for the year in the last pre-season game". There's nothing that can be fixed about that right now. The Pats have who they have at this point.

That is clearly the call - the question comes as to whether he did reestablish control. The fact that he switched hands makes me think he may well did not - but is it clear? And does it have to be to overturn. Maybe the ref never realized he lost control originally - so when they did the review - they just disregarded the original call.

Edit : the ref did not realize the ball was loose - so the original call was moot.

And should have had a second one for the exact same penalty. That was the one BB was yelling at the ref and Brady going to the sidelines after the next play was yelling it was f'n BS....

WTF were those calls? I've don't think I've ever seen that.

they didn't show a replay of either, but the defensive holding call on a DL makes more sense than what we saw last week.....it is usually called when a DL holds onto an OL who is looking to make a block on the 2nd level.....it is occasionally called, but to see it twice on the same play leads me to believe someone has been talking to the officials about the pats.....interesting to see the OPI called on pick plays so often, considering how often it happens today......

His right hand (with which he is coming out of the whole scene after running towards the goal line with the ball in his left) is not grasping the ball as he is rolling out of bounds. Since as Corrente's said, he has to regain possession and maintain it while going to the ground, Sefarian-Jenkins has no possession.

No he says the ball moves as he hits the ground "didn't survive the ground" so control isn't regained until the second regaining of control which is way out of bounds.

It wasn't just them...it was the entire CBS studio...plus any independent observer who doesn't wear red/white/blue tinted glasses.

actually cowher, who is easily the most knowledgable guy in there, agreed with the call

Okay, youre right. If we're going by the letter of the law, then the right call was made. But if you or anyone else thinks thats a fair call then youre delusional. Like i said before, this isnt a pats vs. jets issue, this is an nfl issue

the letter of the law IS the only fair call

Edit - the picture above is a bit murky, but seems to support the final call.

Is there a view that shows this out there? I think the call was correct and since the original ref did not see the ball loose - his call was given no weight.
