You cannot tell he is on the ground.
Plus if that's the spot his knee touches it's not a TD.
Your shot is too early.
You can't tell he's not that's my whole premise. You don't have to change your mind and I don't blame you for it but I change mine. On that note F the NYJ

The replay does not establish when he regains possession or where. I looked at the replay many times. I do not see it.

It is at the least while he is airborne. He landed out of bounds.
The argument that makes it a TD says he regained possession mid air and that is not what the rule says.

I really wish they would fix some of these defensive problems so I can relax a little more during the game, but hey a wins a win and I can relax now, can't believe I'm saying this but I hope the Steelers win!
I think if this continues next week BB will pull a trade to help the defense lke hes done in the past.

One thing about Butler - he does not give up on plays. OBJ in the EZ 2 years ago and now this.

Yes you can from the correct angle. A still shot from above is useless because you can't tell his orientation to the ground.

Doesn't much matter to me, it is that the ref says it is, but I find the rule and it's application interesting.

I agree, Butler will go for the big play, sometimes he gets burned, but we need risk takers. I love how Butler plays, the swag he brings, Gilmore on the other hand is total opposite.

Dorsett showed us he can get deep and he can run routes well, just needs to focus on his hands, but some of those throws were kinda hard, especially that one throw on double coverage that got picked off.

I'm hoping he starts having a good game, if he can start making plays then him and Cooks are gonna pose major problems on defenses along Hogan and Amendola and of course Gronk.

In watching that controversial play, ball is out before goal line ...by time he regains possession he is out of bounds.....here’s the big point to me....we only got to see one angle (only one out there from CBS footage that I have seen). Obviously the refs saw SOMETHING CONCLUSIVE from another angle to make the ruling! The last thing an officiating crew wants to do is overturn a scoring call in a volatile and dangerous place like New York.....they got clear evidence that he didn’t have possession until out of bounds....Right call was made.

Let's look at the Pats problems before today:
1 rush defense-today they held Jets RBs to 2.5 ypc -check
2 protecting the QB- no sacks of Brady and no negative runs by Pats RB- check
3 containing opposing QB run- McCown had a few today work in progress but the Jets were stopped for negative yards 10 times, great effort...
4- giving up 300 yards passing to journeyman QB- still needs to be addressed
5- Getting turnovers- 3 today- a start in the right direction.
6- cutting down penalties- none in first half and 2 on pick routes and 2 defensive holding calls by D linemen....better but not perfect....and no special teams penalties that I can recall.
7- Tightening up in the second half. Jets got 3 points on their last 9 possessions.
8- I look at the season as 4 quarters long ( 4 games each) before the playoffs. In the first quarter, Pats gave up 128 points over 4 games, 32 a game. So far in the second quarter of the season, they have given up 17 and 14 ( 15.5 ppg). Yes it is a small sample size and next week will be a test but if they can hold the Falcons to 24 points, I think the Pats can win ......
( Poor Dorsett- he gets targeted 3 times, one is an int and he gets interferred with on the other two but doesn't get the flag. Hey buddy, you're not in Indy anymore. You don't get the calls when you're wearing a Pats uniform)........

Didn't the ref explain it in his calling that the ball moved and therefore didn't maintain throughout to complete the catch, any movement means no TD. IMO the ball moves on 1.15 on that video. I also swear blind there is an angle where he lands on the ball and the ground helps him secure the ball.

It is clearly catch. And he clearly loses control advancing the ball. But he is in the air when he loses control, so he had to establish possession in bounds. The call is that he regains possession and lands out of bounds. The ball is considered to be last possessed in the field of play and fumbled out of the end zone. By rule that's a touchback.
NFL owes a big explanation on Jets TD-turned-'fumble'

Wasn't really luck because Butler came in trying to get he ball loose and he did.

Butler's INT did not change the game. Here were their drives

TD
3 & Out
TD
3 & Out
3 & Out
3 & Out
Butler INT
End of Half (they came out after the Pats TD and kneeled)
McCourty INT

PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW BUTLER'S INT WAS WHAT TURNED IT AROUND?

McCown didn't shred ****. Guy had 265 yards before the offense decided to hold on an 18 yard Dion Lewis run and go 3 and out which put the defense immediately back on the field. How about the offense help the D out in that spot?

Not sure what you were watching but McCown was pressured and hurried when they were rushing 4, there was a reason why the jests offense did JACK **** between their 2nd TD in the 1st quarter and that drive they fumbled for a touchback in the 4th quarter

Wasn't questionable at all because that type of blitz worked twice prior in the game

They first time Butler was sent turned into a INT and the 2nd time when Harmon was sent lead to McCown running out of the pocket and then throwing across his body and ended up being a loss of 3.
Relax.

Butler's INT turned the game around because instead of the Jets marching toward a 21-7 lead following a Brady INT, we ended up scoring instead and taking the momentum. Pretty self explanatory.

That blitz was definitely questionable. It is 4th and 12. Defend the sticks, end the game. It was a risky call for that situation and they ended up with a 30 yard completion.

The 50 yard wide open catch late in the fourth quarter was egregious and follows the pattern of surrendering big plays at the wrong times.

The defense has not made significant enough improvement. They are definitely playing better than they were against the Texans and Panthers but that is saying almost nothing.

If the defense plays decent against Atlanta then I'm ready to discuss how much our defense has improved. But they were just mediocre/OK against Josh McCowan.

Actually watch it again the ball moves on 1.02 -1.03

He is out of bounds at that moment. The ball actually goes from his left hand to his right hand!
