the pats own the texans until proven otherwise

their offense is putrid and their defense is jekyll and hyde home vs away

pats by 20-30
The playoff game vs Houston last year seemed like a real battle as it was happening. When I went back and watched it again it seemed to me that the Pats were usually comfortably ahead and never really threatened. Weird game.

It's because they played a scheme that made us come out of what we normally do. We seemed out of sync. In reality we were doing what we always do, taking what the defenses gives us, but in this case they were giving us what defenses normally do not.
Most defenses figure the best way to beat us is making us take many small chunks and they hope to make a play in 3rd down or bust through with a sack to disrupt the flow.
Houston decided to take away the efficient "easy" plays and make us make the big ones.

Three errors by the Pats kept them in the game in the first half

Rowe on a 3rd and 18 stop pulled someone off the pile and got flagged and kept their drive alive which they got a FG.

Ball bounces off of Floyd's hands and gets INT'd set them up in NE territory and they got a FG

Lewis fumbled on a KO which set them up on the NE 10 and got a TD

17-13 at HT.

That's why and Brady didn't have the best game by his standards.

All their scores came from Pats shooting themselves in the foot. Their other 3 points in the game came from another INT.

they got their only TD on a 12 yard drive after the Lewis KR fumble

their offense was putrid then and their offense is putrid now

I get it. I'm just saying that that game felt more like a slugfest than it really was.

Well said. Could not agree any more.

Wow, concussions have really emerged as reality for me this season. So many documented cases this season, makes me wonder just how bad this was over the years for some of these players?

So many undocumented cases for sure.

There may also be a rubber band effect happening here, where teams are being ultra cautious because they don't know what the league (or courts) will do and they'd rather err on the side of holding the guy out. But once the dust settles I think you'll be right, and we'll see just how many guys have been playing through things they probably shouldn't.

Yup. All signs pointing to 8-8

Also, we live in a world where people are scared because Marcus Cannon might be out. Two years ago, I would have laughed at you if you said that. Now it's a concern.
For the record, both KONtradicton (the guy I was responding to) and I saw a post where someone said the Pats would go 8-8 after they lost to the Chiefs, and thought it was ridiculous (Kon so much that it's in his signature). My post was referencing that. Apparently I overestimated this board's capacity to pay attention.

Or maybe we just don't read and memorize every inside joke between two posters, and sigs get tuned out because they're always the same. But no, it's probably OUR fault.

Glad you agree! :D

Hope he is good to go. This is one of the less talked about key storylines this week. Right now it appears he will play but if not there is no way Flemming is a match vs that group.

Would have to be Fleming + Allen/Gronk on a bunch of snaps. As a matter of fact, I think we'll see that even if Cannon plays.

I agree.

I would go even further. If Cannon were at 100%, I'd still expect Fleming to play a lot as an extra blocker. I would expect to see Fleming or White protecting Brady.

IMHO, Brady will shred the Texans secondary. All he needs is 2.2 seconds and to stay standing up.

Our defense should be fine against their replacement offensive line.
