Rob Gronkowski apparently doesn't participate in Patriots practice, Marcus Cannon has concussion

Chicken little time...

Additionally, starting right tackle Marcus Cannon did not practice and was listed as having both a concussion and an ankle injury.

With J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Co. up next on the Patriots’ schedule, potentially being without a starting offensive lineman does not bode well for the Patriots.

New England Patriots injuries: Rob Gronkowski, Dont'a Hightower, Danny Amendola practice Wednesday

The injury news was not quite as good for other members of the Patriots, as Marcus Cannon and Rex Burkhead each did not practice. Burkhead left Sunday's game with a ribs injury, while Cannon did not miss time Sunday.

Cannon's absence in particular could be significant, considering he will be going up against four-time All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt on Sunday. With Cannon out, the Patriots have Cameron Fleming, LaAdrian Waddle or Cole Croston as potential options to replace him.

Just piss poor luck with injuries so far this year. Reminds one more of 2013 and 2015 than it does 2014 and 2016, when the team was relatively healthy in each year.

Not a great start to the year in the injury front. Hopefully we can get past it and get some guys back. The 2 IR returnees should be a big boost too.

So it's Flemming against JJ Watt huh?

This is worrying. I know that BB usually handles Watt well, but Fleming is really bad... And it's really the 1st time we face Clowney, Watt and Dareaus (edit: Marcilus) at the same time.

We'll need a lot from White and Lewis. Amendola is back, but I don't trust him too much. Our quick game must be on point

Could be an ugly one this week if Cannon is out. I expect the offense to struggle but if they can put up at least 20, the game should be ours.

Does he have a concussion or does he have to go through protocol because he might have one ?

What's up with all the groin injuries ?
That is bugging me.

Yup. All signs pointing to 8-8

Also, we live in a world where people are scared because Marcus Cannon might be out. Two years ago, I would have laughed at you if you said that. Now it's a concern.

I think they have more talent to withstand it this season.

That said the idea of Fleming at RT is scary. Use Allen to help him otherwise they will pay for the mismatches.

Kontra isn't one of the crybaby biatches, he's just being realistic, they are getting slammed by injury right now. Fortunately they are as deep as it gets so their chance of getting through it is much better than the others.

How good is Croston?

Yikes, that's rough timing, since Watt lines up over RT.

Fleming's been a pretty adequate RT, so I don't think it's the end of the world if he has to play, but it's certainly not ideal.

Health down the stretch is all that really matters. It sucks that guys are getting hurt now, but at least most of them aren't of the season-ending variety.

Watt never has had a big game against the Patriots, for whatever reason.
